TBH this tournament means absolutely nothing lol, it’s not the olympics, it’s a random tournament to drum up interest. As I Canadian I’ll root for Canada, but win on lose, it really means nothing

Matthew is the best player on the Leafs.
The Leafs is a better TEAM without Matthew. His absence forces everyone to step up and take responsibility and the TEAM does not look for the one to solve everything.
This is why Matthews will never be on the same level as MacKinnon and McDavid. He’s too soft and he’s treated like a baby
I couldn't care less about the tournament . I think Leaf fans are patient with the Matthews situation.because they are winning.
Look, I'm in Islanders fan, I have no dog in the fight here. I feel bad for Matthews. And I think it would be a terrible look if some of the first hockey he played was in that tournament. Because if he's feeling good enough to go into that tournament and God forbid tweaks anything, he's risking the rest of his season. And that would be detrimental to the playoffs imo. I don't see why that decision would be made

The captain of the leafs needs to act in the best interests of his team at all times. He should NOT play in 4 nations, that would be selfish, not caprain material imo.

Auston Matthews learned a lot rooming with Freddy Andersen on road trips while he played for the Leafs. Particularly how to milk MLSE out of free money by faking injury. There's nothing physically wrong with Auston Matthews. All XRays and MRI's are negative for any broken bones, or internal injuries that would prevent him from playing. The Germany visit was a complete farce, he's just milking the system for free money – just like Freddy taught him. It's sad how Toronto media (TSN & Sportsnet) inflate this guy's head as being the 2nd best player in the world?? Seriously!!! Last time I checked he's done squat to help the Leafs win in the playoffs. Best thing for the Leafs is to put #34 on LTIR until the playoffs so they can bolster the roster in his absence – allow #34 more time for RBC commercials, what he's really interested in – if he comes back for the playoffs maybe he'll help the Leafs get to the third round, then again, maybe not. They'll probably go farther if he's not in the lineup.

If he plays in the 4 nations I'm done with this guy and want him off the Leafs. If you can't play for your club team, the team that pays your salary, you can't play for your national team. Full stop!
Utilize LTIR and get 2 really good players via trade and welcome back Matthews in the playoffs. Circumvent the damn cap until you can't!!
