  1. As a big time Wings fan. I think this change to the head coach has already started to show improvement in the team. As a fan, with only a fans eye to the game. The Wings have become more aggressive and a little faster in their play. Something that they have been missing all year. DO I think this will make for a comeback to a playoff this season. No, they need a lot more work. But I am hopeful that the 25-26 season they will be far far more competitive then they have been in years.

  2. We need a top 5 pick. We lack prospects with elite scoring. Defense and goalies is set up for the future. Gonna be a really young team with cap space come 2027. It’s really not a bad situation just slow

  3. I think Yzermans biggest flaw was his free agent signings. Outside of that. He's done as well as he could given the pure unlucky draft lottery spots we've gotten. Once the defensive and goalie prospects come into the NHL in 1-2 years. Those 2 spots are pretty set. Maybe some signings of left handed D's but thats about it. Offensively its the weakest part. But hoping that Buchelnikov being that superstar will be all we really have to hope hits. Nate Danielson will be solid, Carter Mazur looks good when hes healthy. Outside of superstar forward and a 1st line Center. The Yzerplan drafting has been quite good if not exceeding the poor draft luck. It just takes time for prospects to develop. A mix of waiting for the prospects and praying Yzerman gets better at free agent signings is the 2 biggest problems of the team.

  4. I can give three reasons… Shaky defending from line 2 and 3, iffy goaltending, Lalonde was like Matt Patrica, and need to trade away a couple old guys to improve

  5. They weren’t supposed to win a Cup, but they weren’t supposed to regress like this either. They were supposed to be a serious wildcard contender.

  6. The irony with Lalonde taking the offense away is that the defense didn't improve a bit from last year. Also, him a great coach? Maybe in the minors he was but in the big league, he was worse than Blashill.

  7. Kane is a winning culture player. He is virtually unique in that locker room in this respect. If you want a thumbnail for this theme try Larkin.

  8. Mclellan was a great hire and with his experience I think the Wings are bound to get back on track. They had stretches like this last season which cost them a playoff spot but Yzerman hasn't rlly made any big mistakes yet.
