The New Jersey Devils have released a statement saying they have not signed Milan Lucic to a PTO despite reports that they have by an NHL Insider.
Milan Lucic was put into the Players Assistants program last season after an off-ice incident involving his wife. The charges against Lucic were dropped, but rumours say the league has unofficially suspended him, and he would be cleared by the league to play.
Joonas Korpisalo spoke to Bruins media and shared his expectations for next season and his excitement about being a Boston Bruin. He is excited to work with Goalie Bob this year and improve his game.

Do you think Lucic ever plays in the NHL again?
I am generalizing here. I find the NHL as a whole very hypocritical. There have been players given chance after chance for treatment, yet Lucic gets shunned. Now I want to be clear that no man should ever hit a woman, I consider men who do such cowards. I should not be surprised if the NHL flip flops on this matter. Granted I have not seen how or if Lucic successfully completed the treatment program. Hope he gets past this and has success in his future endeavors.
You look at Austin Watson he pleaded guilty to domestic abuse in 2018 which was a felony. And still is on his record. Although he had to do like community service. He still in the league.. and has gone through many teams. Although alcohol was a big part of that case too, just like lucic and his wife with what happened. Plus the charges are completely dropped. So we should be moving on from this. If there’s no current charges you should be allowed to play in the NHL. Also considering we don’t even know 100% all the full details.. and we will likely never know.
Watching Looch from his rookie season scrapping to get into the league to hoisting the cup, he'll always have a special place in my heart. But if the B's want to go in a different direction, I'm more than okay with letting the young guys play. But I also don't want to see fans whining about how Boston needs to get tougher if they start getting pushed around, and expect someone like Maroon to do the dirty work while he coasts around and tickles peoples chins after the whistle

First things first I'm personally trying to get in a better place and hope Lucic can too, but his time is over. After the incident last year (treated horribly by the league for not getting him help sooner) I just hope he can heal and find peace in his life. I am very angry at Swayman and feel Korpisalo as you said was just on a demoralized, miserable team. I know these words may offend some, but with Swayman's greed we could use that offer sheet for some really helpful (or one really helpful) player and like you said about "Coal in a diamond mine" Joonas could turn out to be another Ullmark. Missing hockey in general and we bought season tickets for the local rink! Can't wait!

I really think Looch could have helped last year's team. They were so lacking some toughness and an enforcer to keep things clean. Ultimately Sweeney was forced to go out and get Maroon despite his back. Now Sweeney has multiple options as 4th line bruts plus a much heavier defense.

My question is could players be able to sue the nhl. Especially in situations like lucic, where he was not found guilty. So how can the league legally stop him from playing.

Ullmark wasnt a Vezina goalie in Buffalo either, I think Korpisalo will do fine in Boston. As for Lucic, he may pick up a PTO IF the league lets him play, but I think he should just call it quits now. He was pumped to play in Boston and that was going to give him an edge over his age, but for any other team I dont think he will be able to muster the same energy. He doesnt have a shot to play in Boston again.
