Kaapo Kakko Traded from Rangers to Kraken



The Rangers closed the chapter on the Kaapo Kakko era in New York today trading the 2019 2nd overall pick to the Seattle Kraken for Will Borgen, a 2025 3rd round pick, and a 2025 6th round pick.

    Great Video. I think that this is a sign of Chris Drury releasing his Fury on Players Playing Up To Less Than Their Potential. I wouldn't be surprised if he's (Chris Drury) going to trade Igor Shesterkin & LaF before their extensions kick in. Let me know what you think

    Kakko was getting fist amd second line opportunities for a long time throughout the years and did nothing with it. Good player, but we need more than he can offer us right now. I just wish they used him in a package for a better trade

    Remember, that Kappo Kakko was to have been replacement for Pavel Buchnievich. If you look at it that way, his future with The Rangers wasn't ever going to be stable. Let me know what you think

    Kakko, Laf, Miller, Schneider all struggling… Kravtsov, Andersson, Lundquivst all out of the organization… either development absolutely sucks or drafting absolutely sucks… I find it hard to believe that so many picks havent panned out so my conclusion is the Rangers cant develop their own non-goalie talent 😂

    Kakko is mediocre. Trading him isn’t the mistake, drafting him 2nd overall is.

    I don’t get all the pearl clutching on the Kaako trade. He’s proven he’s not a top 6 scorer, nor a bottom 6 cruncher (which you need vs Fla).
    Cuylle and Berard have surpassed Kaako in physical play, tenacity and scoring probability. Our near future top 6 is Bread-Tro-Laffy, Cuylle-Chytl-Berard. Frankly, I have more faith in untested Othmann and Perrault in our top 6. At his best, Kaako was an intermittent possession forward who played well on the D side, but not well enough that Ranger fans are justified in confusing him with Pavel Datsyuk. As a bottom 6 winger, you want size and/or grit like Edstrom, and a more developed Rempe. Kaako got plenty of chances per his own admission. If he didn’t have a 2nd overall pedigree, no one would shed a tear at losing someone with Kaako’s numbers because, statistically, he’s a dime a dozen. That we got 2 picks and physical Dman is a decent and unspectacular return, filling a need.

    nope. . . too many times I've seen him with excellent chances that he flopped. Not as bad as Mika but still a flop is a flop so adios!

    The most basic reason why Kakko hasn't worked out in the Rangers is that all his strengths lie in cycle and possession hockey, while the Rangers top6 has only had rush players all this time.
