I wish Laine would just keep his mouth shut as that is the kind of media fodder that turns fans against him; especially when many have been well-wishing him through his mental health issues, his knee injury, and finding his game again with the Montreal Canadians. Laine was such a great world junior player that as fans, many of us really wanted to see him succeed in the NHL; however, arrogance and self-indulgence turn off even the most well-wishing fan over time.
I find it a bit hilarious that Werenski said in post game interview that now they gave their 100% to the game cause Laine comments. So he admitted without Laine comments they wouldn't have given 100%.
I agree that Laine said that in a completely wrong place and time, but I think he is based still though. Columbus hasn't ever been very "media sexy" team. They had Nash, Panarin, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Korpisalo and now lastly Laine. The players even wanted to get rid off Laine, so that speaks a lot about the vibes in that team.
Currently the team of Columbus is pretty nameless. All the big stars have joined in other more "media sexy" teams.
I also think that former GM Jarmo Kekäläinen ruined the team pretty much. Although he kind of did good job getting the big stars there, but now currently all of them are gone. Perhaps Columbus needs relocation, or a brand name change. For example look at what happened to Arizona Coyotes: the team became more "media sexy" in Utah. Also is performing better under new name.
A podcast Mofo should have kept his "remington retirement" comment for himself. Columbus deserved a jab. Way to go Patty!
