They could do it in the coliseum lol
Canucks fan here, from Santa Clara (don't hate me), and I have always hated the outdoor games. Love the concept, hate that I have to watch the Blackhawks or Bruins every season. Canadian market teams had the "Heritage Classic", which the Canucks played in once, albeit under a closed roof at BC Place in 2014, but they haven't had another opportunity since. So I think there needs to be a standard rotation of every team in the league and the NHL needs to find a way to make it more enjoyable for every fanbase. But, if the Sharks and Canucks play at Oracle, I will be there!
coliseum?
I think it would be cool if Minnesota and the sharks played in a stadium series or something.
you forget global series game in Germany and Czech Republic in 2022 as a cookie from the NHL.
Sharks at the coliseum!!!
Hell No. Utah HC.
I don't understand why the nba doesn't play outdoor games. Imagine warriors-lakers at Dodger stadium, on a Saturday afternoon, That would be financial gold
I went to an Stadium Series game in 2018. Maple Leafs at Capitals. It took place at Navy Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis. That is Navy's home field. I grew up 5-6 miles from there. Long time Caps fan with a Big Event game in my home town AND Doc Emrick on the call? Yes please! It was worth it for me.
DC is about 30 miles west of me. Between work, traffic getting to DC and the cost of a Caps game, it's tough for me to see an NHL game in person.
The atmosphere of an outdoor game can't be beat. Navy put on great ceremonies as expected. The rink was centered at the 50 yard line and the entire rink and benches were on the "deck" of a drawn up aircraft carrier. Nice!
Downside? You are miles from the action. Watch it on the video boards. A special problem was that the lights cut out in the middle of the third period.Oops. Navy Marine Corps Stadium was opened in 1959 and the facilities aren't up to the demands of a Big Event game. But a pro stadium like NFL or MLB stadium would have no issue hosting an NHL outdoor game.
The outdoor game I went to was great fun all around and a core fan memory. I never thought that I would see an NHL game in my hometown.
Do it at Oracle Park!
sharks game at oracle park would be cinema
Let’s wait at least 3 years when we are winning again.
1:33 Is that rink about 350 feet long? Seriously, if they do another outdoor game involving the Sharks, include a Barracuda game too.
It's ridiculous that Montreal has yet to host an outdoor game. Do it in the hairpin of the Gilles Villeneuve F1 Track.
After all your 'downer' MLB posts(thanks MLB for all the bad PR), it is so nice to see you excited and happy with a Sharks story. 🙂 Happy New Year! Good things come to those who wait.
PayPal Park is the Sharks' best choice for an outdoor stadium. It is located next to the San Jose Mineta International Airport and is safer than the Oakland Coliseum or SF Oracle Park (Crimes). Also, since the Sharks are rebuilding, they will not draw 30k+ fans. So, an 18k stadium is the best choice, and close to its San Jose fan base.
No way, never in SF! I love you Brody, but your argument about The Sharks needing to play in San Francisco to unite the Bay Area and showcasing San Francisco is specious and frankly insulting to the city of San Jose.
As a Ducks fan, I'd love to see Sharks vs Ducks at Oracle Park. Both teams have played in one outdoor game and deserve to play in another.
The next outdoor game will likely be against Vegas at Allegiant
Thanks for the walk down memory lane—love seeing Desi, Brauner, Melker, and the others.
Oracle Park would probably be the best option, but I’m not sure that I’d go. Went to the game at Levi’s, and the sight lines were horrible. The ice was far from the bleachers, and the bleachers themselves are much shallower than the SAP Center.
Personally, I doubt that I would ever attend an outdoor game again. The sightlines were terrible.
Sharks fans going up to SF on the Caltrain and the walk to Oracle Park sounds like a fun time.
