What the Sabres need to do to get back in the playoff race

The Sabres are riding a three game win streak, but they’re still a far way out of a playoff spot. Sneaky Joe looks at the current playoff picture, what the playoff pace is, and what the Sabres realistically need to do to get back in the race. Are they capable of going on a run?

Plus, Jiri Kulich continues to heat up, and Sabres prospects are looking good at the World Juniors.

  1. Simple. They can’t. They need multiple 4-5-6 game win streaks, and they can’t lose more than 2 games in a row, the rest of the season. This “team” just isn’t capable. 14 years and counting…

  2. It maybe cliche, but all this team needs is to win the next game. Then win the next one and so on.

  3. They're not getting back into the playoff race, and they'll never get close as long as Kevyn Adams is GM. He can't build a team to save his life and until his BFF Terry wakes up and does what's right for the franchise he apparently loves this team will go nowhere

  4. The team is too young to be consistent. Certain players will get hot here and there. But the only consistent players, surprise surprise, are the older veterans, tuch dahlin zucker Tage

  5. We’re one week removed from a 13 game losing streak and were the worst team in the NHL. Now we’re talking playoffs? Oh no. I’m not that far removed from the abuse to start talking marriage yet:

  6. The Sabres should never have protected Ullmark when the Kraken came to be. Letting Borgen go (who was above Sameulsson at the time) who was to be the next Dman to come to the Sabres from the Amerks. Yes he was the best goalie we had at the time but one that chose to leave and go to a rival ultimately to go to yet another rival. Could really use Borgen right now. Not saying he is the best in the world but certainly is solid.

  7. Playoffs did you say playoffs….come on they'd need to win 32 of 45. My god they've won 3 str before then lost 3 or more afterwards. Adams waited to long to make a move and again Pegula will do nothing about it. About the only good thing about the rest of the season is it helps pass the winter away.

  8. Hey hows that bluesky working out for you? I hear there's quite an echo over there. Something to behold. The problem with the Sabres is very likely ownership. And you can't change ownership. Ownership changes itself.
