Andrew Copp, Joe Veleno & Todd McLellan Practice Media | Dec. 30, 2024
Andrew Copp, Joe Veleno and Head Coach Todd McLellan speak with the media following Detroit’s practice at the BELFOR Training Center on Monday December 30, 2024.
I’ll listen to Todd talk hockey all day long. Imagine Lalonde still here “we gotta show compete, we like our DNA, and I like our process” just a bunch of hockey cliches over and over again.
I’d like it if the press would ask him about what he specifically thinks he’s learned and changed after ten years of rotating coaching. He’s still the guy the Oilers and Kings both moved on from very rapidly. Has he changed his systems? Has he found some new insight? Guy has coached a long time, with rosters much better than this one will ever be, and I’d be curious to know what he thinks is going to be different this time.
Re: penalty kill, "the old way wasn't working so we had to change it." Good coaches adapt and build an effective system based on the talent they have. Other coaches try to force their system on players who can't make it work.

A coach that can articulate the problems and offer at least a plan for the a solution is incredibly refreshing.
You can just hear the buzz in the locker room; not one player wanted to play for lalonde.
Take good care of Axel Sandin Pellikka when he comes to you!!!
McLellan is the dad this team truly always needed

I love this coach.
Not sure what’s worse for Copp, his 5 on 5 play or his hairline
A new era for us
Great job boys
This dude is a gem
I just heard coach say…. sometimes the assist is more important than scoring the goal". yes yes yes
Todd looks and sounds like he loves being in Detroit! A smart move to get him behind the bench
Do they ever make these available on Spotify?
Todd Mclellan is our Dan Campbell of the red wings and I love it
