The NJ Devils Are For Real! Beat Carolina Hurricanes 4-2 and are 1st in Metropolitan Division & East

The New Jersey Devils are For Real! After a very impressive win againstthe struggling New York Rangers and holding the opposition to 12 shots on goals or less than 20 at times, the NJ Devils are rolling.
After the Holiday break was a true test a back to back series against the Metropolitan Division Rivals the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes always give the Devils a tough time and they are having a good season as well. The Devils were able to get a win in the first of these two games by a 4-2 score.
Luke Hughes with a Goal and an assist is really elevating his game. With 8 points in his last 6 games and finding his game playing alongside Brett Pesce they are looking like a solid defensive pairing. Jakob markstrom won his 19th game of the season and that trade Tom Fitzgerald made with the Calgary Flames finally gave NJ a true number one goalie. Markstrom has been playing really good and on a Streak of wins. With this win the Devils Now sit 1st in the Metropolitan Division and 1st in the eastern conference.

  1. This team is so much fun to watch. THIS is what Devils fans had envisioned when Nico was first drafted. 😈 😈 😈

  2. Been great so far. Devils have been like a machine, everybody has bought in defensively. Keep it going. Lets Go Devils!

  3. D pairings like the old days: a banger and a puck mover. Structure and discipline are night and day from last year

  4. They have room to get better that is kind of scary. They are finding consistency. I hope for best in many years

  5. Can’t wait to see tonight. Will they keep it up? Seems like they can but I’m curious how steady they will be and if they score well moving forward.

  6. Keep up the good work! That’s all we can ask for. Hopefully Fitz is looking at Palmieri, Vatrano, Nelson and others to help elevate the 2nd & 3rd lines.

  7. Yeah the NJD are looking better and better. They have 4 games in hand over the Caps and 2 or more on every other team in the division, 1 or more on every other team in the conference. So being on top of the conference is true but there is a little inflation there. One more chance tonight to see if the Canes have lost their edge. It's been difficult to play them for years but their current configuration is definately beatable. Not quite half way through the season but for sure it looks like a strong post-season and a high position in the brackets. Markstrum has really been one of the best goalies in the league lately. He's frequently been in the top 3 stars of the game. I do think they probably still have a problem sometimes when they are getting shut out… getting that first goal. But it's not from a lack of shooting. Just some defenses do just enough to throw off their offense.

  8. This Devils team reminds me a lot of the 2000-01 Devils. Also, Jack Hughes & Jesper Bratt are neck and neck for the Devils points leader race.
