The top PP line is going to start looking different with Laffy, replacing Mika on that line. Also, I would really like to see Robertson called up soon or, him sticking on the starting roster next season.
How the Rangers could be great gain this season:
Trade the GM, coaches and entire team to Buffalo for the corresponding Sabers team.
They are having as bad a season as NY – but Buffalo is used to it, expects it…Losing is fine.
Buffalo is where careers go to die. Look how many guys flourish after leaving there.
There is actually some talent on the Buffalo team.
Once freed of Buffalo, they can, like so many others go on a winning rampage.

Mika hasn't been the same since around that time that he and his wife had the baby. He is such a talented guy, but just seems like he isn't trying, and is battling something in his head. Put him on waivers and send him down to Hartford if he can't turn it around this year.

At this point I'm looking at top draft prospects and where the Rangers might be come draft day. The main question is do they draft for need or take the best player available? We have one 1st round pick and two 3rd round picks. Personally I'd like to see them go after a defenseman in the 1st round. It would be awesome if we could get Matthew Schaefer, but he will probably go in the 1st 5 picks. Logan Hensler is a RD that is getting some good evaluations. I think he might be possible.
When the power play was designed to get pucks to the net so Kreider could screen or deflect, he scored 26 pp goals. Two seasons ago the Rangers decided they were going to go for one timers by Mika or Bread instead of getting the puck to the net for deflections , screens or rebounds. Mika may be the least accurate player in the league when it comes to one timers…..couldn’t put a puck in a soccer goal. This change was a long time coming and honestly the fact that it’s taken this long isn’t a good look for Laviollette.
I like Mika he has not been good. Reily Smith is not the third player for this line. They need to bring up Othman. Let him try to help Kreider and Mika get back on track. Othman is an energy guy and very talented. He hits, scores and fights if needed. He’s excellent on the forecheck. I am not saying this move will fix anything but at least we will have a young player come up and develop. I really believe Drury is the biggest problem and needs to go.

They need more than a retool. The culture in the locker room is a cancer. Starting with the GM.
The Rangers "first line" was all finesse and never had any grit. It worked for a while until the league figured out the formula. Now compare this "first" line to the one with Messier, Graves and Kovalev and its like comparing whipped cream to steel.
How long are we going to put up with this crap! This is not coaching. This is totally on the players. All of a sudden Lavi & the rest of the coaching staff forgot Hockey! These players…not all…are gut-less! Trocheck & 3& fourth lines work. The rest are freakin ZOMBIE'S. Defenseman being caught everytime! Team can eat up another coach& general manager…AND NOTHING WILL CHANGE… HAVE SOME PRIDE!
