For the oilers if they don’t care about the baggage of an player they should of added Hoffman in the summer or taken a look at Voynov from LA

Knowing Ottawa's draft record in late rounds (Stone, Hoffman, Batherson) and Chiarelli's trade record (i.e. trade a 5th round pick that turned into Jamie Benn), I wont be surprise if that 6th round pick turns into the next Datsyuk.😂
Honestly, the way Wideman has played in the past, I'm not super surprised. He's never been a guy where you're confident in him defensively on the ice. Boucher even played him as a forward last year. I don't know if this was prompted by the Uber at all- I think Ottawa was just kind of done with Wideman and moved on. Just my 2 sensts.

OTT got rid of him for 1M of cap relief to help sign UFA's (ie offering 95 7M vs 8M can make a big difference as reports have come out it could be an 8×8.5)
Brandon Davidson and Michal Kempny were both traded for third round picks and I see Wideman as a comparable for both (he's probably better than Davidson) and Ottawa gets a conditional sixth back? There's gotta be more to this, but that's just me

as a sens fan I never really had an emotional attachment to wideman, especially after the uber incident. also hes like a 6th or 7th defenceman, which we also have harpur and wolanin so we dont need him. would have preferred a 4th or 5th for him though.

Wideman has been outplayed by Jaros and other young dmen. Even being healthy scratched in their favor lately..
