Dobes Earns SHUTOUT in NHL Debut, Dach is Back, Re-sign Evans NOW
Montreal Canadiens beat Florida Panther 4-0 in Jakub Dobes NHL debut. Kirby Dach scores 2 goals, Jake Evans scores 3rd short-handed goal of season, Cole Caufield scores other goal for Canadiens.
What a day it has been…Let's hope Dach is out of his slump. Let's hope Habs now have 2 solid goaltenders for the rest of the season. Let's hope Habs keep this up.
Hughes and Gordon Hughes need to get it together and sign Evan’s. the kid was drafted by MTL, played 5yrs with the rocket, developed on the bottom lines with the big club and the guy is and will remain great veteran on this team. Why the hell would you let this guy leave or trade him for what more draft picks???? We lost Danault because of another bad Bergevin move, let’s not let our old child go…. Love Evan’s and sign him.
Oh, come on. Let's talk about Dobes after he has played at least 10 games in the NHL? I'm all for hyping Hutson at this point in the season, but let's not be ridiculous.
I'm a big Evans fanboy, I hope to see Jake retire as a Habs but I also know the kid deserves to get paid. He's criminally underpaid for his skill set currently.
Term is probably going to be the biggest hurdle, I can see a reality with management wanting a shorter contract. Especially with how well Beck has been adjusting to the Pros.
Best friend visiting family here from Ottawa. Game started and he asks who the goalie was. Told him, new callup from Laval, first NHL game.
Asks me what I think. Told him not sure…hoping for a shutout, but let's be realistic, a win would be great, but they are playing the defending cup champs, so who knows.
4-0 shutout…..
Evans….no trade, extend him now. 4yrs, $3.5-$4 mil/yr
You absolutely do not trade Evans, unless you're offered an absolute heist for him. By that I mean minimum the value of 3 first round picks (no I do not believe he is worth 3 first round pick to another team but unless that's what we're offered we are not trading) that or an absolutely elite prospect
Jake Evans has a nose for the net, a wicked shot and he swarms as a shut down player. I'd offer him 3-4 year deal at $3.5 M now. It could be he gets traded by the time Demidov, Beck and Hage make an impact. Who knows, maybe even Dach will play center. Could it be that the Habs will finally have riches at center? Hughes may want to act soon though, because if Evan' keeps it up and pots 30 goals by end of the year, he may be too expensive. I loved Dobes game. Not to take a thing from Dobes' game, but there were times he flopped around, which I am sure Eric Raymond will work with him to tighten it up. Habs had great active sticks, preventing the Panthers from getting much going. There were 21 blocked shots. And when the Panthers did get decent shots, Dobes answered the bell.
Evans has given his heart and soul to the team. The great Habs teams had players like Evans; Jarvis, Awrey, and Gainey, not the most skilled players, but they were so hard to play against. Give him a good contract. Do the Good Thing! Go Habs Go!!
start dobes against teams montembeault has struggled against——trade for a second line center in case dack cant hold up worst case dach can take dvorak place
If we can trade savers dvo and armia for bottom def guys or picks resign Evans to like a 4 mil or 3.5 would be sick lol hopeful wishes doubt it though 😂
I never really like Primeau. These young goalie is good, he reminds me of Patrick Roy. Finally we beat the American teams, and hope the Montreal Canadien can have another Stanley Cup. I hope this year we will see a Canadian team win the Stanley cup. I getting tired of new American teams taking it. I am died hard fan living in Toronto Ontario Canada. In my 55 years, I never really like the Toronto team. I live here, because of the humidity.
Not sure if it's a pure coincidence but the team has played so much better since Laine got in after his knee injury. My speculation is that Laine has been inspirational for all. Couldn't be more proud of this team. The Habs will win the cup in 2026 or 2027 (I'm sure of it)
I wouldn't trade Jake Evans either. And get a what late first round pick not worth it.His value is so much more than just a late first round pic.K in the later rounds. You're looking at about twenty to twenty seventh overall not much there. We got. A bunch of pics we don't need anymore
Jake Evans is probably the most complete player on the Habs. He does it all. Fast, tough, great playmaker, great leadership, excellent on defense and can score. Dont let him get away
Cheers from Czechia, mate! I am watching your channel for a while now and a long time habs fan since the Plekanec era. It's nice to see some czech players in the lineup again. Very happy for his impressive debut, hopefully he will remain valuable piece of the team in years to come. Shout out for Evans too, who now has goal in 4th straight, which is incredible for a 4th liner. I really really like Evans and it would be good to keep him, but on the other hand he's now playing over his potential, so we might get some nice assets for him. He's been great for the habs, but I don't see him much as part of the team in the future, so it would be wise to trade him now, when his value is on top imo… Then we can hope he will come back after season as UFA (i know it does not happen very often) 😊
Nope, I'm not over the trade Evans talk. He's having his best year in his career. His play is fantastic, great steady player that is about to pot 20 on the year. He's also 28 and on a contract year. Odds are he's having his career year, and not his breakout season. If he wants 4m x5 years, I'm sorry but I would ship him for a good return. Everything we're saying about him, is what we said about Armia. And he got his 3.4m contract, and he struggled for some time.
I want Evans on the teams, but at a reasonable cost. If he wants to cash in, 4m x 2 years would be ok. Habs won't need the cap. More than that it's no. I would give him 2.5m x 4 years max.
The Habs have a way of providing magical moments. Cudos for MSL for putting Dobes in for his first game. Not many coaches would have. Say what you will about St Louis – but he’s outside the box as a modern coach
Yes, thank you for highlighting it : Arber had a very disappointing start to the season but he turned things around really well. He's been a steady reliable D guy since. Even his harder hits are useful ones now.
Jakub is only the third goalie in NHL history to record a shutout against the defending Stanley Cup champions in his debut, joining Hal Winkler (1926) and Daren Puppa (1985).
Good job goalie however I hate when habs fans say rebuild, has those rebuild been going on since 2000 so for 25 years cause that's how long you guys been saying you've been in a rebuild.
Solid performance by the whole team. Things r gelling but there's still a way to go. They looked like a team by looking out for each other. Beat the Cup champs in their barn, shut them out and Arber played tough but well in control. Dach has a new life line to build on. Evans should be offered a contract that is comparable to other 3rd line centres, only because I don't know if he's a #2 centre. Decisions, decisions… But things are shaping up.

Go, Habs, Go! Habs fan living in Florida.

Jake Evans is on the last year of a 1.7$M/year contract. If we don't resign him, he will for sure get offer sheeted.
He is a specialist and does so much on his trio with Armia & Heineman.
I would offer him 4M$/year for 5 years (20 millions $ contract).
You can;t overpay a 4th liner, Evans has never come close to 15 goals in his career,
To be noted – the last 3 additions to the team all seem to be paying off and the whole team seems to be pulled up by this energy.

Great Game ! The team And the fans needed this one. And his first game with his Mom in attendance too ! Great stuff !

In an up and down season, we’ve had some pretty amazing highlights…
Hutson’s magic
Laine’s return
Evans is dominant
… and now Dobes
Awesome job today, keep on trucking. Ghg.

4,75 million per year for EVANS
Anyone who watches Laval is not surprised, Fowler is even better.

Evans is doing well right now but you can't overpay him based on just this year
Evans has given his heart and soul to the team. The great Habs teams had players like Evans; Jarvis, Awrey, and Gainey, not the most skilled players, but they were so hard to play against. Give him a good contract. Do the Good Thing! Go Habs Go!!

This could have gone really really bad for Dobes, going up again the Panthers, he reminds me of Ken Dryden.
Dach has 1 good game all season doesn't mean he's back… Hopefully he's back but I have my doubts when a guy as had 99% bad games and 1 good game.

Don't worry Florida, the fans left the building but the Habs fans have the same color (red) and they were still cheering at the arena
Better trade Evans at deadline.

I'm from Turku, Finland, same as Saku Koivu's hometown.
Jake Evans is probably the most complete player on the Habs. He does it all. Fast, tough, great playmaker, great leadership, excellent on defense and can score. Dont let him get away
Next season line 2 – Laine – Hage – Demidov – wow !!!

Evans is the best PK specialist/defensive centerman the Habs had since Danault, maybe even since Pleky
Evans need to be re-signed ASAP..Dobes was amazing and the team played outstanding…..they need to play like this every game
The Habs have a way of providing magical moments. Cudos for MSL for putting Dobes in for his first game. Not many coaches would have. Say what you will about St Louis – but he’s outside the box as a modern coach

It won’t be long we’ll have the cup home again❤

Making the Habs Great again!!! So happy for Les Boys
I saw the whole game, great play from the entire Montreal Canadiens team.
Jake Evans is a keeper. Trading him would be a major mistake.
