The most solid game since forever. Primeau is thinking "why the F can't this team play this good defensively in front of me?"
I told my wife that Docker would wake up bigtime when Primeau was waived. Obvious reasons. Predictable.

evans is a career 4th liner, having a great year in a contract year, you can;t fall in live with that. Evans is a 4th liner center, 3×3 or 4×3 is the number for a really good 4th liner.

I was at the Place Bell for the Laval Rocket game and they announced Dobes' shutout (when mtl game was over) and there was basically almost a standing ovation

Don’t count your chickens till they hatch——-like to see more of Liam and dach , newhook way more consistent, their young, patience is needed. First time I taught somebody crib he skunked me——-dobes skunked predators ——-time tells everything.

Ive been really impressed with xhekaj recently his defense game has been great. Xhekaj and savard is a great defense duo. Then you have guhle and carrier pretty solid right now
Laine helping out making plays on the 5v5 is huge and than you have him on the PP… Alex Kovalov rebirth!!!!
Jake Evans as our 3rd line center, raise in salary is well desrved and increase playtime, he has a great role as our defensive guy chipping in some offense

While 2 goals doesn't make a season, Dach had a great game. Glad the nervous nellies who wanted him gone don't run the team. He needs time to come back from tears in both his MCL and ACL. I was a goalie in my younger years, and tore both as well. People think just because he is back on the ice, that he should be able to do everything at an NHL level. It just doesn't happen that way.
I think Evans' skillset gets even better with age. I'm not saying he's Patrice Bergeron, but that guy's PK skills maintained right to the end. Evans should be part of the rebuild just because I feel you need players like that to contend for a cup.

When I watched Dobes vs the Leafs in the preseason I was thinking to myself, why the hell is Primeau on the team? All the best to Primeau but Dobes could be an absolute beast
Now the mix feels possible. The Habs weaknesses seem to have vanished in this game. Dach woke up from the dead , getting the second line going. The defense is solid. Primeau is gone. The future looking bright!
Before we had no clue what Evans was for this team, St Louis made him important by playing on the pk and key moments. That said if he wants 4 mil bye bye.
Not sure if it's a pure coincidence but the team has played so much better since Laine got in after his knee injury. My speculation is that Laine has been inspirational for all. Couldn't be more proud of this team. The Habs will win the cup in 2026 or 2027 (I'm sure of it)

With the cap going up, I would not be opposed to 6 years (takes Evans to 34) at between 3.5 and 3.9 million per. Besides, you have to think that right now Kent Hughes is thinking do the Habs want to play against Evans for the next 8 years? I would not want to. Dobes looked awesome, I will temper that with the fact that his adrenaline had to be through the roof for his first game. I want to see him play a few more before anointing him as "Saint Dobes" lol. what is happening in MTL right now opposing teams do not know who will score no matter what the line on the ice any line is performing well. and the good scoreres like Laine,Cofeild Susuki Evens and Dac and sl;avkosky can wake up any time now.Lets hope this can continue building for Habs are going to be a hard team to beat. ?
Why trade Evans for a pick we hope will develop into an Evans?
Jake Evans is a character player who has the best plus minus on the team and does everything well without being flashy. He's a beast on the pk and is in the top 5 of scoring on the team, the Mc need to sign him long term.
Watching dobish in preseason I was hoping that he would get a chance with the Canadians, he was squared to the shooter he looked confident he came out and challenged the shooter. Dovish for me is definitely a number two or possibly a number one goalie until Fowler shows up.
I said it and I say it again, give Evans 4.5/3y right now If you want SC in those 3 years…

Was at the game man he smothered everything. There were no rebounds. Very impressive. Can we table the Evans trade talk. This is a guy who is finally showing some offense. We know his other assets, but he was always reluctant to shoot. 15 goals from a checking centerman; sign me up!

Daneault, Lehkonen, and now Jake Evans… the question is what can you get in exchange for them not that they are irreplaceable.
Its not like other players that have lost their value. He has value, but the cost needs to fit the timeline, otherwise you have to let cheaper options develop for the winning window, like Beck.
