Just a pre season game, but there were things to like and not like. I liked the fact they killed five penalties, but didn't like all the penalties. Considering the Penguins pulled the goalie at the end, Pittsburgh had around 12 or 13 minutes of this game with a man advantage and still didn't score. I liked the fact Sillinger and Chinakhov did just what they were supposed to do- shoot the puck. They had nine shots between them. Finally, I hated the poor performance in the faceoff circle. Texier, Gaunce and Sillinger won only 15 of 45 faceoffs between them.
I'll be at the games the next two nights. I'll be looking for quality puck movement. I want to see accurate passes up the ice (especially the first pass), I want to see good puck movement through the neutral zone (no neutral zone turnovers please), good puck distribution when they are in the attacking zone and good puck distribution from behind the net. I also want to see the defensemen insulate the goalies well.
