Wow…lol but paul Coffee was mentioned a while ago or brought up in conversation.
As of late, the Pinto and Cousins line has been playing great for Sens.
Yzerman’s hands have been tied. Unlucky in the lottery, not enough money for top free agents. He didn’t keep the scorers and the defense just isn’t there. The biggest issue in firing Lalonde, he lost the trust of the guys. They didn’t believe in his way. To play in his structure, you need speed, which we don’t have. They will never fire Stevie, that is a for sure.
Agreed that the red wings roster is awful. However, a major problem was Derek Lalondes system. He had them playing man on man defense. the wings spend nearly the entire game in their own zone. I hope Todd immediately implements his own system. I believe that will lead to more scoring chances because they will have better breakouts out of their own and spend more time in the offensive zone.
I think there are legitimate criticims of yzermans UFA signings and a a few teades he has made recently. But im not really sure how you can loose 70 plus goals for in Fabbri, Perron, Sprong, wallman and ghost and think the team will be good with only adding/resigning an aging Kane and Tarasenko. You have to remember Yzermans focus this offseason was signing his RFA'S. And he did a great job with the contracts. You guys didnt mention Cossa, Augustine, Sandin-Pellika, Edvinssson, Kasper or Danielson. And honestly if you add these players yo the roster once they are developed there isnt much more that needs to happen for this team to be good in a few more painful years. When These bad contracts are gone youll have a lot of cap room for depth signings.
