This, is Tim Stützle—one of the NHL’s best young forwards and the cornerstone of the Ottawa Senators franchise. But who exactly is this electrifying German star, and why has he become such a polarizing figure in the league? In this video, we dive deep into Stützle’s career so far, from his incredible junior performance in Germany to his rise as one of the NHL’s elite players.

Back in the 2020 NHL Draft, the Sens took a massive step in their rebuild by selecting Stützle 3rd overall. While Quinton Byfield and Alexis Lafrenière were also top names, Stützle immediately made his mark in the NHL with his incredible skill, hockey IQ, and vision. Since then, he’s developed into one of the most productive and exciting young stars in the league, putting up elite offensive numbers year after year.

But with success has come criticism. Stützle has been labeled as a “diver” by rival fans and players alike. Is this reputation deserved, or has it been blown way out of proportion? We break down the controversial diving allegations, Brendan Gallagher’s viral comments, and how these narratives may have unfairly overshadowed his brilliance.

What We’ll Cover in This Video:
🏒 Play Style Breakdown: How Stützle uses elite skating, edge work, and hockey sense to dominate offensively and create opportunities.
📊 Stats and Milestones: From his breakout rookie season to his near-100-point year in 2022-23 and why his dip in production last year wasn’t what it seemed.
🇩🇪 Junior Career: Stützle’s rise to stardom in Germany’s DEL and his standout performance at the World Juniors.
⚖️ Diving Allegations: Examining the evidence behind the “diver” label and how it affects his reputation around the league.
🌟 Comparison to Other Young Stars: Where Stützle ranks among his peers like Jack Hughes, Trevor Zegras, and Lucas Raymond in terms of skill and production.
💪 Leadership and Physicality: How Stützle’s commitment to defense, physicality, and leadership is shaping the Senators’ future.

Why Tim Stützle Deserves More Respect:
Despite being one of the most productive under-23 players in the NHL, Stützle still flies under the radar due to narratives and the Ottawa Senators’ struggles in recent years. With 281 career points and counting, Stützle has already cemented himself as one of the brightest young talents in the game.

We also explore his growth as a 200-foot player, his ability to dominate on the power play, and his underappreciated contributions to Ottawa’s rebuild. From threading highlight-reel passes to silencing critics with physical play, Stützle is proving he’s much more than just a flashy forward.

  1. For the crying Habs fans who scream diver. Stutzle is incredibly fast on his feet. He just moves at a pace that make any teams defenders piss their jocks. You either have to take the body or take out the skates which seems to be what the Habs like to do because they can’t keep up. But he’s built some serious muscle over the last couple of years and his game has matured. Those 2 factors really complement his speed like prime Crosby and now we’re seeing a superstar play his game. Yes, he was looking for calls a lot when he first got in the league but could you blame him when he’s going down the ice like an F1 car and some dirty hab takes out his feet?

  2. Stutzle has transformed his game completely this year….turning into a complete player…He's in the point range of Jack Hughes and Makar currently

  3. One thing I have noticed since Stu has gotten this "reputation" is the refs are very hesitent to make any calls if Timmy is the one getting slashed/hooked/cross checked. In a year where I have seen some of the softest penaltys called, the refs turn back the clock 10 years if its Stu on the receiving end. To me thats the only "tangible" thing thats effected our team from the diving allegations.

  4. its a crime people dont know how good he is, brings you out of your seat every game even if hes not getting points

  5. wow this video smell partisan pink glasses all over. Strutzle is quite overated and his diving prowess are 100% on point.

  6. How many forwards even play in their first year after the Draft today? He was lucky to get selected by a total re-build team, and he toughened up in the league instead of the minors…..but make no mistake….other teams would gladly sign him for way more than he extended. Watching team Germany in 2026 will be a treat! Incredible first line.

  7. well maybe if he wasn’t such a diver he would be more respected and maybe if the sens fans werent so obnoxious they would also be respected as a team😂

  8. I knew most of that years ago, when i saw him running Mannheims PP as a teen. He was 17 years old when he played his first pro season in the german league DEL. And while it`s not the best league, his skating and playmaking was crazy to see. Doesn`t happen every day, that a 17 year olds skates better and runs the PP of a top team, which Mannheim is. He was the driving force of their 1st line offensively.
It`s impressive that he was able to carry that over into the NHL and that he got so much better in other aspects of the game.

  9. OTT #18 Tim Stützle 2024-2025 32 GP 11 G 27 A = 38 PTS PPG = PTS/GP = 38/32 = 1,18 PGP

  10. We Sens fans have learned to tune out the stupid haters, and have learned most of the hate comes from loser players that don't know they suck, such as Brandon Gallagher.

  11. He is not a diver if you watch him play every game he NEVER DIVES. Typical goof Gallagher talking shit after Stutz literally got KNEED. Stutz is smaller than most dudes so he gets thrown around but hes strong for his size. He is nowhere near being a DIVER. HOW ABOUT MATTHEW TKACHUK? #1 Diver in the league

  12. Diving on the Suzuki incident? Tim's leg bends a way it absolutely shouldn't. That's crazy…

  13. Let the rest of the league disrespect him, that way they will think his contract is too big and won't try to take him from us

  14. He'sa absolute elite player in every point! He has the potential to dominate games and in a few years he will be a Stanley cup champion with his teammates

  15. His diving title is literally all because of a viral clip from Gallagher. The media and fans ran with it. That’s it.

  16. He is not a superstar. That term should be reserved for the top 10 or maybe 15 players, let’s not throw the term around like participation trophies. Has potential but not a superstar now.

  17. He's changed alot this year as per Travis Green. They were talking about that on HNIC and rumor is Green had a conversation with him. He's become a much more focused threat now.

  18. When he first came into the league he was a bit of a lanky teenager. Sometimes he would trip over his own feet and fell often in general. Other players who don't watch him all the time see him get tripped and called him a driver. They can eat it. Jealous of his skill. This clumsiness has gone completely now.

  19. Everyone calling him a diver is just jealous he's not on their team. The man is a force and a future 100-120 point player, with grit, size and more skill then you can shake a stick at. also… Leafs Suck

  20. The "e" at the end of his name is not silent.

Try using the "A" in L.A. (Los Angeles) and put that at the end of his name: Stützl(A)

    –> something like Stüützlay😅

  21. As a german i love Timmy. obviously. Being a german AND Adler Mannheim fan is doubling it. German Hockey isnt known for its out of the roof skill level. But known for the high physical play. He has what it takes to become a legend. i think he had a bit of trouble starting in the NHL and the high level + intensity. But this year shows that he improved a lot already with a even higher ceiling.

  22. Nice video
Yeah! Gallagher is just jealous of Stu’s skills and of course the MTL media is the worse when it comes to try and make someone look bad
