  1. Todd's NHL coaching experience will make the difference going forward. Rome wasn't built in day and Todd is saying this in he presser. There is a lot to clean up

  2. This team is rough but the depth of analysis Mclellan already shares at these two conferences feels so much more well thought out and reasonable than what Lalonde came out with.

  3. One game in and no practice and Todd already nailed it "Mechanical and tentative." This is exactly what I saw when I was at a game a month ago. They're so worried about the system Lalonde had it in place they forget about effort, intensity and getting out of your own head. I think Todd's system will be much better suited to the team and hope it results in them getting harder on the forecheck and breaking out of their zone on transition more. This was a very good move.

  4. Still gonna take time for Todd to know these players on the team and for them to know him well so not mad about this loss

  5. Jeez Luis, Todd just got here YESTERDAY! It’s going to take at least 6-7 games. This is a midseason hire, not an offseason hire. Morale already sounds better with the players.

  6. Honestly, it sounds like the same complaints Lalonde has. Details missed, defensive issues need to be resolved before offense…

The difference will be in whether TMac can get the players to do what he wants. Not sure how much he can adjust a system mid season.

  7. Well, 1 skate with the team won't make them win.
    Worse…
LATVIA JUST BEAT CANADA IM IHL JUNIORS!

  8. I know we all know his contract is too much but seeing Ben's looks at Ray and those questions I think I kinda get it, he answered quick he answered well and he seems like he's a support player, too much money, yes, but I would like to see him stick around for less cash to be a good guy in the room.

  9. As a Sharks fan who experienced having Todd. You got an honest coach. Not only was great with you when he was an assistant under he who must not be named, but he was great with us and was honest. He's going to change things around, but it will be a process.

  10. they played a perfect game as far as perfectly showing the new coach what the team is this year and how everyone and every combo has been. the one line that's been together recently and been the only good line all season, was great tonight. the top line center/forward combo that's been winning corsi and losing the scoreboard all season, giving up easy goals all year, did exactly that all night. seider refused to pass to Kane's side on the power play, going to Ray or shooting 95% of the time. just like all year. Petry and Chiarot were horrific. just like all year. passing and receiving/handling passing was horrible all night, even from the good line. just like all year. young players made terrible defensive mistakes and were out of position, just like all year.

coach saw the real thing tonight, let's hope he can do anything to fix it.

  11. maybe all that needs to happen is for someone to start saying "grit" all the time like the other Detroit teams are doing

  12. It’s really nice to hear a no BS coach try and candy coat everything. It feels like there is accountability in the air, finally.

  13. listening to him, oh boy it's gonna be a rough rest of the year. announces that as expected he will be focusing on improving the defense. of the 32nd ranked offense in the league. nice hire Steve.

  14. Still a bit weird seeing Todd coaching us, I still think of those hated Sharks teams that he was in charge of. I do know for a fact he’s light years better than that sack of crap we were stuck with

  15. McLellan is articulate and straightforward. He has a lot of work to do, but he won't be handing us fans a line of hirse hockey.

  16. Welcome back to Detroit, Todd. Looking forward to seeing some change. You nailed a lot of important issues in just one game. Time for the boys to start climbing that mountain. LGRW ❤️

  17. Man, it so SO refreshing to hear from a different coach with this much intensity and words that actually describe what we just saw and makes sense. They were able to win the 3rd period, so progress was made, and growth was happening rapidly before our eyes. Todd has words to describe plays, performance and attitude that just sound SO much more competent than anything Lalonde could ever muster.

  18. I didnt hear about how our stats were super high and better than toronto. i didnt hear about looks.

I just heard a dude talk about where he wants to focus and how hes gonna get after it.

  19. 5 goals on 13 shots , cant win NHL hockey games like that sorry ya just can't , the goaltending on this team is HORRENDOUS period

  20. Given that they're 5 games below 500, this isn't worth watching. Glad I quit watching the games or highlights a few weeks ago. Not worth the disappointment.

  21. These players are just collecting their paychecks at the moment showing up to work doing the bare minimum…at least they know how to skate for 60 minutes

  22. I’ve seen more grit today, more GIVE, more energy. We had more SOG than Toronto and lots of offensive zone time, which is good to see as well. One thing I’d like to see is if we can let go of some people. I couldn’t even count how many times tarasenko gave away the puck, or had poor passing/puck management. It’s bad.

  23. Omg i love this coach already one game in and he already sees the issues plans to address them most importantly to me he talked about how the team was almost mechanical just following structure and then not knowing what to do after i liked that he pointed out its not all about structure but about players instincts and doing what they thinks right and if he can get that message across not only will we get better the on ice product will be so much more fun to watch i hope coach mclellan can be the guy to take us to the next level and hopefully make playoffs i'll say next season i think this season is chalked at this point but we'll see but i really like his message and i think it'll help fix alot of our issues

  24. There was a guy named Jim Montgomery that was available not too long ago who is now the HC in St. Louis. That was the guy Yzerman should have went for. But he waited too long
