Can you believe it?! Jordan Eberle scored one of the most memorable goals in World Juniors history at the 2009 World Junior Championships. Eberle sat down with James Duthie to relive that incredible goal, and revisit how it all happened.

I love that he gives credit to his teammates for doing a lot of the leg work. Ellis holding the line, Hodgson making a stick lift, and Tavares a little less so, but still had a hand in the play. Lol. Tavares' magical play was throwing a muffin towards the net that took a lucky bounce. I think Ellis and Hodgson made the magical play, but Tavares was the bigger name so he was going to get more love.
Biggest team Canada goal? Absolutely! Greatest WJ goal ever? That’s typical USA arrogance, thinking our stuff trumps everything…which is bullshit… pretty sure the greatest goal is a goal not from Canada or USA but from a country that doesn’t expect a gold medal every year

Maybe recency bias…. And no doubt this one is legendary too. But Bedard’s last WJHC tourney was insanity.

Would've been nuts had they won that game in 2010. Beyond legend status stuff.
Was there for that game. It was crazy the number of people who left the arena with 2 minutes to go. Hundreds around our section alone. If they had only stayed, they would have witnessed one of the great comeback moments in our hockey history. And once you left the building, you couldn't get back in, so those people that left didn't even get to see OT or the shootout. The US game on NYE was crazy enough, but that semi vs Russia had everything. And I remember the final was almost anti-climatic.
Tavares is such a great person and great player, I hope he gets a cup with the leafs 🙏🏻
I was in Greece (Sept 2024) having dinner with my wife and friends. The couple next to us were finishing their meal. Clearly Canadian, like us. We got to chatting…where from? Kids, etc… gentlemen says “my grandson played pretty good hockey… NHL now.”
Oh? Who? Jordan Eberle! I practically jumped out of my seat reliving the goal with tonnes of Canadian energy.

I lost a second date because of that goal. A girl wanted to go but the game was on. She wanted to go enough she came out to a pub and watched the game, while there she asked who I thought would win I said Canada of course. At the face off before this goal she asked if I still thought Canada would win and with conviction I said 1000% yes. On the drive home she said I had too much 'blind faith' for her lol 😂 guess I lucked out
