Laine is a fraud and got exposed again last night. He had no accountability in his comments and threw the CBJ under the bus. The players know the truth, and it showed when they pummeled him into submission in one period. It was obvious they didn’t care for him, also don’t forget guys expressed to management that they didn’t want his around and told them they wanted him gone. He has zero self awareness. He got what was coming to him and proved how soft he is. Last night was a microcosm of his time in Columbus. He only plays one third of his games there. Great job CBJ!!!!

I like the video packages, but as a boston fan, its usually someone who meant a lot to the team, either stats or culture… Out of the current lineup I would think someone like frederic should get one, and even coyle. For players around the league from boston, debrusk would warrant one. The bottom 6 players for boston specifically are valued by the fanbase, so if they were around for a couple years, a deep playoff run helps, I would expect it at this point. Then again, maybe im just expecting more than there should be because of how they have trended over the last few years.
I agree, tributes should be saved for players who have potential legendary status at the club when they retire. As an Avs fan it just felt weird getting a Juice tribute when he’s been a backup for 2 years

Maybe Wahlstrom gets some disciplinary action but I doubt it. Its not a fantastic hit or anything but its in that greyzone for me where its too far from the boards to really call proper boarding but at the same time its pretty dangerous. Probably should get a game or two but at the same time if the opponent keeps his balance there he wouldn’t tumble head first into the boards. Him losing balance makes it look worse than it is
I'm not convinced anymore that Hughes was the right choice for GM of the Habs. Bringing in Newhook, Dach and Laine were such terrible decisions. 2 are horrible and one of them is literally the last guy you want around in a rebuild. 😡
Yeah giving video packages are just stupid if they havent played somewhere for atleast 10 years or something.
I think someone like Horvat coming back to Vancouver should be the minimum status for a video tribute.
Perhaps Columbus should not be angry at Laine but with themselves for sucking so much year after year? Laine told the truth, it stung.
Seems like they have been "rebuilding" since day one.

Truth hurts. There's a reason why everyone just leaves Columbus (Panarin, Bobrovski etc). Laine's crime was to say it out loud because he's brutal honest. He's much more critical for himself, after scoring the hat-trick for the Habs, he said it was a crappy game for him and the Habs deserves better from him.
laine should get a welcome back video every time he comes to winnipeg. Stanley should get a I you you leave video before the game.
Laine hasn't been a stellar example of a winner, but Columbus didn't get their "country club" reputation for no reason.
Nothing wrong with knowing your value, priding yourself on your work, and wanting more from yourself and others.

Laine just evaporated any goodwill and benefit of the doubt that I had left for him. If you are gonna consistently miss time for mental health reasons, you have no right to call out your other teammates over their level of competitiveness. The lack of self awareness is staggering.

It was weird seeing video package for Annunen when he came to Colorado. He him self also seemed awkward watching it.
I think the video packages should be for long term players, fan favorites, and players that had a big impact in a short time.
I don't get when people freak out when players talk down about other teams. The idea that they should just be happy to be there is insane. If you aren't there to win, then why are you there at all? Also it will be kind of ironically funny when Laine says the same about Montreal in 5 years.
You should only get a Video Package if your beloved in the community and the team. About 5 years +

Bruce Cassidy has been nothing short of a godsend to the VGK organization. A true leader of men, and a worthy coach to have won a Stanley Cup, with more opportunity to win another! The way things have gone this season so far should be putting Cassidy up in conversation for coach of the year, because this VGK team lost so much of its cup winning puzzle from 2023 this past offseason, yet they’ve found a way to have the best points percentage by the Christmas break in the NHL! His coaching is having a major positive impact on that roster, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they win another cup this season!
I felt Laine's comments were pretty based. And he wasn't wrong either. While i dont mind the Jackets havinf a chip on their shoulder about his statements, where's that bite and tenacity in the play against the rest of the league? Pick the battles they can win, I guess
I get Makar is insanely talented but you can’t call him the best defensemen in the league. That title belongs to someone else (right now). Makar is somewhat of a merchant of having probably the best forward top6 in hockey.

Anyone who is bashing on Laine coming out like he did have the mental capacity of children. While not the most professional comment it was completely fair. Laine on his best on CBJ was their best player. The guy is meant to be a weapon which they did not want to use or were not capable of using. He is not supposed to be the guy that makes everyone better. That being said if u pass him the puck it's very likely a goal. CBJ is a professional organisation and not having the video is a joke. That is very unprofessional no matter what Laine said. The players that are competive wouldn't take it on themselves since Laine was only talking about some players not all. If u were doing all u could, it's clearly not meant for u. And the people still mentioning Fortnite, get with the times and grow up.
Laine… my guy. This year? After this summer and what happened? Like hold on to that. You didn't need to say that this year. You didn't need to. Although itd be funny as hell if that becomes the locker room wall material and columbus somehow rallies and pulls a sort of st.louis, drags themselves into the playoffs, maybe even knock out a team or two, that'd be kinda amazing.
But my dude, of all the time frames….Like we all knew after what happened in the summer columbus was basically playing with house money this year. Of course they were, Gaudreau's loss was sudden, shocking, tragic, and to be blunt, with no time to really alter the team for that loss. Not to talk business about a man's death, but that is bluntly just the facts. Like you didn't need to say that, especially this season.
Laine might be a locker room cancer and asshole, but when most seem to agree to what he is saying, there might be something the CBJ could learn from.
We (Columbus) are better off without Laine. I’m saying that even though he is one of my favorite players. Despite that, he deserved every hit he got

I think a welcome back should be reserved for players that played either at least one full season with a team or won a Stanley Cup with them as a rental. Anything less than that is kind of overkill imo
What i dont get is fans complain that all hockey players give the same answers and say generic things but when someone says something that isn't generic they get all mad.
