This is why “Stone Cold” Steve Austin is the GOAT 🔥😤 #316Day

  1. Fun fact: Triple H was actually planned to be the winner of that King of the ring tournament, But due to the infamous "Curtain Call" moment with the Kliq (Shawn, HHH, Nash, and Hall) breaking Kayfabe on live TV just a month before, there was a last minute change to switch it to Stone Cold as a way to punish Triple H, since Shawn was the champion (so they couldn't really punish him) and Nash and Hall were leaving the company the next day (so they couldn't punish them). That left Triple H as the only person they could punish. Stone Cold took his spot, and the rest is history.

  2. Wrestling will never be what it was during the attitude era when WCW was so close in ratings it forced WWF to have to be great and innovative. Now they have monopolized the industry and it just sucks now.

  3. So that's how the characterization pivot happened.

I always wondered. I was young to realize the origins. But I remember, Steve Austin was never a redneck lol before like 95-96. Also the inflection point where the styles blew up to signatures that rivaled Brett Hart or heartbreak kid.

  4. Me and my oldest every time it was time to wrestle when he was 3-8 he was either Goldberg or stone cold and whomever was stone cold said that line….the year was 99 when it started

  5. This would have to be approved by management beforehand these days. Going off the cuff isn’t something that’s really fine often.

  6. What a legend, to not have anything scripted and Austin makes up something famous in wwe on the spot in 1 promo, just in his head, I never knew this

  7. I remember seeing this at thinking, “Man, I’ve just seen the start of something really big. Real “once in a lifetime” kind of stuff!”

  8. I remember that promo like yesterday it sounded tough and the curse word pure threat was pissed when he beat Shawn Michaels

  9. I wish so much that the match with Owen Hart never happened. We could have really seen what he was capable of 😢

  10. This was the career defining moment of Stone Colds run, and he's one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
