His voice throughout this interview. I feel like he’s holding back tears. Never makes eye contact with the camera. I feel so bad for the players of this team who actually care
Surprised he didn’t go down with an injury during this
The pressing is depressing.
"Where is Terry?"
It’s a failure of imagination that haunts this franchise in this era of hockey.
It really just takes individuals with a sense of team work and who together work to make a franchise come together.
I participated in the growth of the sport of ice hockey after 99 was traded to Los Angeles in 1988. It was an amazing time of individuals who had a variety of connections to ice hockey. We met in impromptu fashion and a variety of things came about.
I am I poor health at age 68 but I still follow hockey and the many I enjoyed hockey with are still out there.
…How does it happen…
That led to my putting on a pair of hockey skates and showing up to a public session at Pickwick Ice Arena in Burbank August 1988..
Recreational adult hockey I was invited to play..then work in. Brad Berman and Larry Bruyere. Clinics with Pat Brisson. Power Skating with Robby Glantz.
And a couple of rowdy recreational players I watched as a scorekeeper. Steve Brill. His script he optioned to Disney. Peter Berg actor and directing and producing many projects but in the beginning he was a late night recreational hockey guy..
The Iceoplex opened for public skating on January 15. 1992.. and the LA Kings would practice there. We had to throw an impromptu party when Luc got traded to Pittsburgh. Kings lost in the Cup Finals to Montreal in 1993. Michel Voyer our Head referee opened his own annual referee school.
Michael Eisner’s kids played hockey and then the Disney movie a hit becomes the NHL franchise The Anaheim Mighty Ducks. A few years later the hockey advances north to SanJose Sharks. We opened new ice rinks.
This is just about ice hockey taking hold in Southern California. Luc never really left. Dave Coulier played in our Over 30 league and named his baby Luc.
These are just personals from my world of hockey. The sport is a community! And so is Buffalo.. maybe the long snowy winters send to big an Arctic air blowing in but imagine it’s just one big pond and you bring in others to be a part of things. Why not?
The scouting and the player acquisitions here have been good through this playoff drought. Find a steering group of guys who want to reinvent things with the Sabres. It’s really about having a vision of who you want here and building from there. It’s only a fruitiness endeavor year after year when the individuals involved overlook their own relevance in what it is about the sport of ice hockey they each bring to the project.
It’s the New Year approaching…🌿
