Laine will get more goals than Matthews making him thevone and only true 1st choice of that draft.
Kent Hughes to replace Justin Trudeau. Make it happen Geoff Molson!
Hutson would be elite if he had a shot. His shot is weak AF.
future looks good feel good to have hope again
Well I agree, I've said it before he has the best Pass I've ever seen for a Habs playing, been watching since 1987. He has a laser of a pass and can find anyone, it's like Messi or the best midfielders that pass 90%+ ratio per game. Obviously this is hockey so it's hard, but I give 8.5%. Just needs to use is wrist shot more, if he has a great pass then should = a great wrist shot.
Quinn Hughes first 35 NHL games : 27 pts
Lane Hutson first 35 NHL games :
yup, 27 pts
Merci
We should nickname the Beauty and the Beast.
Did Patrik Laine play with Vancouver or Colorado ? No ! So it's normal that Patrik Laine never play with Someone better Quarterback on the Power Play ! It's comparing Lane Hutson with WPG Josh Morrisssey and CBJ Zach Warenski
I think he forgot big buff
Werenski is more a shooter than passer/playmaker. He has 5 PPG right now leading CBJ. Not a good fit with Laine and vice versa, they are reductive elements together. 4 years of Laine's stint in CBJ Werenski(246min PP TOI with Laine) had just 5 primary assists for Laine's total 17 PPGs, 4 from 2021-22 season when Laine scored only 5 PPGs.
Then Dustin Byfuglien had only 3 primary assists in whole WPG era(387min PP TOI with Laine). To be fair it wasn't his role to pass Laine, Wheeler at right side ran WPG PP and Byfuglien as shooting threat on point was crucial component opening PK. When he left, WPG PP stopped working and Laine's production dried out.
In comparison Lane Hutson has 4 primary assists just in 9 games and 30min of PP. Hutson is being best PP QB Laine has ever played with is not even debatable. Laine is not making this up, he simply hasn't experienced anything comparable. The rate certainly will cool off but it won't drop back to glacier level like in previous teams.
I really like how Habs power play is not static setup with distinctive roles and players eagerly switch their positions, it's dynamic and plays are hard to predict. Even Laine has been in the slot, right side and front of goal looking for a tip. Hutson, Suzuki and Caufield are rotating all the time. Hopefully they don't fall into trap of thinking some predictable setup of forcefeeding Laine is a good approach just because he has so good shot. It won't work.
Hutson is a Bruce lee sensei ninja katana int no doubt about that now on Jackie Chan name !
Some will call me crazy but when I stop looking at the game and start looking at Hutson specifically, as much without the puck as with the puck, his positionning and all,… He reminds me of young Karlsson (the Ottawa guy). Ok Hutson doesn't have the shot of Karlsson, but he has more "deeking" than Karlsson. He is also noticeably slower than Karl, but he is way more agile. I don't know if Hutson will become equal or greater than Makar, but already, he is a superstar in its own way. And no, I am not talking about the points. Points are sometimes meaningless and I think its the case right now. I mean every stars seems to be aligned for Hutson right now (Laine's outstanding performance do have a crazy effect on his own points). And it will not last lets get real for a second. Laine is not and will never be a 80 goal/season guy.
Wierenski > Hutson. He's just trying to build the guys ego
