The smooth skating Swede has been one of the most consistent point producers in the NHL since he was drafted in 2014. But who were the 7 hockey players drafted before him? And were there a few teams that now regret not drafting Nylander when they had the chance?

It's ALL redundant in the end, cuz T'rana won't make it past the 1st round. Don't beLEAF me…check your team history. 📚
Great video idea.
Today, 10 years later my top draft list would be;
1. Draisaitl
2. Shestorkin
3. Pasternak
4. Point
5. Reinhart
6. Nylander
7. Ekblad …
There was chatter of Teams moving up to take Drasaitl, and had him at 1st OA.
Fleury could be Marner’s brother
Now all of the sudden Nylander is a hero, lol? Wasn't long ago they wanted to run him out of town, fairweather fans strike again.
NHL 2014 Redraft Top 5:
1. Leon Draisaitl
2. David Pastrnak
3. William Nylander
4. Sam Reinhart
5. Aaron Ekblad
Very well produced and narrated video (and cool channel name, to boot!). Kudos.
I'm actually shocked that this channel doesn't have way more subscribers. Subscribed.
Dave Nonis drafted Nylander? Well he wasn't a total bust as a GM then.
Huge Leaf fan here, but I think I am being objective with this draft order (and it sure is easy when you can look back at ten years' results): 1 – Draisaitl; 2 – Ekblad; 3 – Nylander; 4 – Reinhart. I could be convinced to swap Nylander and Reinhart.
William Nylander, Leon Draisaitle, Brandon Point, David Pastrnak, Sam Reinhart, Aaron Ekblad, Gustav Forsling, Sam Bennett, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Adrian Kempe are all available in NHL Legacy 2016 for Playstation 3. 10 of the top 15 draft picks.
The game is basically the same as the previous 2 years but updated rosters and some gameplay tweaks that to me, make it the best hockey game ever made. 18 year old Conor McDavid has a face scan. Older game but it's brand new to me and freaking Awesome especially since I know the future and tweak the rosters to be more accurate.
Virtanen lol
Nylander is a one dimensional player, that lacks defensive play and heart. There are 10-15 players in that draft that are a better than him.
The Canucks took juollevi over thackuk
And Virtanen over Nylander 🤦♂️🤔🤦♂️
Great video, you should make one about the 204 before Joe Pavelski
The thing is: There is a difference between recruiting a Swedish player vs. almost any other nationality. You get complete honesty and leadership. No BS. No hype. This is not the case with North American players and you are vain + money hungry. You want quality, you recruit from certain countries. Period.
Throughout NHL draft history there have been some real head scratchers , and my choice here is Draisaitl. For me the far beyond head scratcher is the three teams that took players ahead of Cale Makar . Amazing
Nylander is weak, he's not play-off material. I would take Draisaitle all day!
Leon is fucking stupid. Someone needs to stop that fuckin guy! Lol
1.Draisaitl 2. Pastrnak 3. Shesterkin 4 Sorokin. 5 Nylander. 6. Forsling. 7 Devon Toews. 8 Brayden Point. 9. Demko 10. Larkin. 11. Kempe 12. Reinhart 13. Bennet. 14. Ekblad. 15. Marcus Pettersson
GET RID OF THE MUSIC!
Moral of the story: go to Florida to rebound in the NHL
Everyone up to and including Bennett should have been selected before Nylander (Bennett and Reinhardt have cup rings so any argument ends there) Drisaitle was obvious #1. But Nylander after Bennett although I'd have to review the draft and see if nayone later should have gone ahead. I imagine there will be. Nylander has elite skill but defensively hes a coin toss and he doesn't have the ability to put the team on his shoulders and dominate a game. He can be a game breaker but he needs the team to get him the puck in a position to score, he doesn't create his own oportunities enough. And if hes not scoring he doesn't give you anything else. All that said I still take him on my team any day. He's a guy you can build offense around. Whereas Mathews and Marner are more likely to take over a game either with dogged two way play and Mathews scoring touch or Marners ability to slow the game down and find guys anywhere on the ice.
I mean didn’t Matthew Tkatchuk go like 5th after PLD Jesse Puliarvi and Liane? Mathew’s prob only player you could argue is better
My 2014 redraft:
1. Draisaitl
2. Shesterkin
3. Ekblad
4. Pastrnak
5. Point
6. Sorokin
7. Nylander
8. Reinhart
9. Toews
10. Larkin
Picks 6-9 could go any order and I would not argue much. I put Toews last of that bunch to counteract my bias as an Avs fan. But hey, at least we used our 1st round pick to draft *checks notes: the only 1st rounder that year to not play a single NHL game. Hell, the only player we drafted that year that got into any NHL games was 5th rounder Anton Lindholm with 66.
