Citing a “disconnect” amongst the play of Detroit Red Wings, Captain Dylan Larkin talked about the team’s losing streak following another loss, this time before the Christmas after a shutout loss vs. the St. Louis Blues.
Head coach Derek LaLonde talked about a struggle to find rhythm amongst the Red Wings, too. The team faces a rematch against Original Six and Atlantic Division rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs, following the break on Dec. 27.

This team an organization is officially dead to me. We have a lethargic, owner, lethargic, general manager, and a lethargic coach. You have all conspired to run this team into the ditch.
Stevie Y ,you are not Bowman and your way is not working.10 bucks USA gold medal 🏆 world jrs would whoop wings no question.i watched till 2-0 then shut it off.none of these guys no what the hell they are doing out there
I really think Yzerman is at a loss. What I don't understand is how anyone can call this a plan in action working out well. This is sad to watch. This team has zero direction no heart no energy no grit nothing. They just float and collect a paycheck. No leadership poor coaching and management at a loss. He talks about finding their game. It was never lost because this current teams hasn't shown one.
Maybe it’s time to start talking about this teams pro scouts. Must be the worst in the league. Stevie signs career bottom 6 checker Copp as a 2C after having an outlier career yr. Then when that predictably fails, he signs another career bottom 6 checker in Compher to be the 2C after having an outlier career yr.
The Walman deal was just putrid. Especially after not resigning Ghost. Gustafson was a possible steal, so don’t fault him for that because he’s been underrated most of his career. But he certainly doesn’t replace Ghost. He signs all these veteran D then gets rid of the only one worth keeping in Maatta. Not to mention TO’s castaways.
And please get rid of that stupid Eminem goal song. Surely we can do better than that obnoxious trash. Maybe some Metallica or something with testosterone in it. They need it not having even 1 power forward and top 6 wingers that are all undersized and get pushed around.
Blame Lalonde all you want, but Scotty Bowman himself couldn’t do much with this flawed, unbalanced roster. This team needs less Debrincats and more Bennetts.
Fire their pro scouts! Copp, Compher, Holl, Petry, Chairot, yikes!!!!!!! Who thought these were the guys to bridge the gap between the farm and the nhl??
"Dylan, as Captain of the team, what additional responsibility do you feel to help your teammates get back on track, and do you feel you're doing enough" (Questions that will never be asked by Detroit media)
Dump and chase only works if you're willing to go into the corners and fight for the puck. Not being a coward. Lead by example Dylan!
And who was that Wing on the ice that simulated a kicking motion in disgust? Not sure, but maybe because he broke his stick….. Just think it's sad that this organization is going down the tubes after a fairly decent season last year. But horrific trades in the last 12 months are beginning to show the results you now see. I mean there is almost no effort in many cases by millionaires on this team! Bench them, put them on waivers, or send them to the Griffins. My guess is the Griffins probably don't want any of these Wings playing like amateurs. Like i said, play for 60 minutes, or find a new career. The Detroit Red Wings are the winningest American NHL team in history, and 3rd in North America behind the Canadiens and the Maple Leafs. I think these problems begin at the top, and that is with the Illitch family and Yzerman. Scotty Bowman would have never taken this nonsense from these players. Scotty was like, either perform or go find another job. Even to mention their head coach's name, Lalonde, is in itself pitiful. Can't believe this guy is still coaching in the NHL, but leave it up to Stevie Y to be the guy to have confidence in somebody, like Lalonde, who may not even be successful coaching a kids hockey team. Lalonde is way over his head and shouldn't be coaching in the NHL. Wake up, Yzerman. It shouldn't be a surprise if you both were thrown to the curb. Problem is, Detroit fans are just too loyal, far more loyal than the players on this hockey team. Wings fans should demand success (especially after 8 years of none of it) or not even both purchasing game tickets or internet packages of the Wings games.
