Markstrom is awesome and really fitting well into this organization. You can tell he's a genuinely cool family guy too. He plays with laser focus and bounces back if he has a poor game (which is very Brodeur-like). And lately he knows how to ride this winning wave in hang 10 style.
Man Jack tries so hard to be courteous & politically correct on the Kakko draft video burn to Ranger fans. Yep he did crack a smile and got caught, but he pivoted off the question very gracefully. He knows deep down that the video is really for the fans to enjoy and rub it in blueshirt faces.
Basic fundamental hockey, limit oddman rushes against, limit prime scoring chances, the devil's are playing as a unit, it's playing and skating intelligently without the puck, keeping yourself in good positions for the defensive side of the game.
Early in the season I was up in arms when Coach Keefe sent down Nemec and Casey…obviously I was wrong…Having blue collar guys like Kovacevic, Dillon and Cotter, closer to the classic NJ style of hockey, has been a difference…I remember also the 2013 Jagr Devils and how good were they defensively, and how they lost a ton of points in shoutouts and failed to make the play-offs…at this point, this team is historically better on defense, and it's lethal offensively…it's hard not to be excited being a Devil's fan…🙏
One thing that impresses me the most is how Luke learned to play way better defense with Pesce being around and not having Lindy as a coach. Dude had the longest leash under Lindy. Way to coach Sheldon. Glad he's here.
