The Rangers fell to the Devils 5-0 in the Prudential Center before the Christmas break in the NHL. New York only managed 12 shots on net all game which were all stopped by Jacob Markstrom, earning him his 2nd straight shut out. The Rangers return after break to face the Lightning in Tampa on Saturday night.

Scratching Kreider – whether Drury ordered it or Lavi decided to do it on his own – makes zero sense unless a trade has been agreed and will be executed at 12:02 AM Friday. Has he been bad? Yes, but Mika has been so much worse – so much more obviously worse. Mika's been so bad that scratching him makes actual hockey sense and doesn't reek of nastiness and punishment the way healthy scratching Kreider does. Scratching Kreider was obviously gonna demoralize the whole room, and it did.

This is 10000% an effort issue. The players are, themselves, just not trying hard enough. Part of it is a lack of pride and confidence, the other part of it is the lack of leadership from the veterans/captains/coaching staff. This is the worst losing streak (I can remember) since I've been a Rangers fan (1992). I think Kreider isn't a leader, neither is Mika. But they both serve other purposes. They're great on the PK. When they're clicking, they're unstoppable. Which unfortunately only happens about once every three years. At this point, our core is exhausted and wasted. I think we basically have four hopeful players left on the roster: Panarin, Fox, Igor, and Laffy. Trocheck is a maybe but I don't see leadership from him either. Everyone else can go. I would be super sad to see Kreider go, same with Mika. But they've both chosen not to play anymore so what are our options? They're not giving us a reason to keep em.

No leadership, no accountability for weeks of absolute horseshit mediocre play especially 5-5. Drury need to be fired and the core players need to be scratched and traded away, time to take out the trash.
NYR are so bad they are costing the NHL money cause their games are unbearable for even the winning team cause its predictable and very bad basic hockey they cant even play out of their own zone 5-5?? they are clearly quitting on their coach, the fans, their team and GM..and most importantly they quitting on themselves!!

I've been a NYR fan since 1976. The downfall started way back in offseason when Drury embarrassed Goodrow (a TRUE professional and LEADER who was given a ridiculous contract) and put him on waivers! RIGHT THEN, I KNEW we would be in trouble. Had NO IDEA though that it would be THIS HORRIBLE! Time for a COMPLETE REBUILD.

We had a team that had fun and was fun to watch. I don't remember that since 94. Gretzky was a different kind of exciting for a second. Kinda hard to watch them after some exciting years. I strangely don't think it's all the players.
Goodie is gone, and the team kinda fell apart. I hope they rally for Sam the GOAT Rosen and finish this year strong. Sad to see a good kid like Kakko get traded for a C+ defender and some picks.

How does this team go from last year’s performance to this year’s performance? It’s mind boggling!! Drury must think last year’s team reached its peak, so it’s time to rebuild. Perhaps this losing streak proves his point.
I am a die hard Rangers fan and I have this to say to Peter Laviolette and the players. …You are too good a team to keep losing like this. It’s more about your mindset and less about your skills. I am a cardiac surgeon and my two cents…. Get back to basics. Practice hard as a team the next three days while the world celebrates! Bond with one another and rise like a band of brothers. Adversity will make you tougher and set you up for greater success. Use this opportunity wisely.

Carlolina basically scored two power play goals yesterday. Devils score 3. We had none. Same clowns on the ice all the time. Get Adam fox out of there. He only looks to pass. Get Zac jones on that power play. He has good offensive instincts. He tries to get the puck to the net all the time. We are so bad…..but at the very least get the power play going so that we can be in some of the games.
