The Kraken make a surprise trade just before the holiday break acquiring RW Kaapo Kakko from the New York Rangers in exchange for Will Borgen and two 2025 picks.

As much as I am going to miss Borgen, I am excited to see what Kakko can do as a Kraken!
Will borgen? More like will BORGONE! 😂
Good luck to Kakko in Seattle, but you guys will quickly find out why Kakko has probems producing (he can't skate if his life depended on it and has very little to no on-ice vision or creativity).
I'm sad the Borg-neirs household is getting a divorce 😭😭😭
Kaapo Kakko can kraken all day long 💙🤍
I hope the “I hope Will Borgen has fun” fan club has fun
Seattle gets a middle 6 player if you put the right guys around him Kakko can flourish
I asked a question a little bit ago on how much players are worth in trades, and this is the exact reason why I asked that question.
why couldn't they try to target interesting pieces like Kakko, instead of waiting 2-3 years for players to build from the draft? maybe we could target pieces that other teams have given up on and might be cheaper exactly like Kakko or Tolvanen. I'm excited to see what Kakko could turn into.
I Wish Borgen the best of luck in NY and hope he finds a bit more steam over there, but it was the end of the road with the kraken with the emergence of Montour, Evans and Mahura being a little bit more consistent.
While I don't think that any of Us Rangers Fans are thrilled with this trade, as you said, it was because Kappo Kakko had asked out of New York. Therefore, Chris Drury had to make this deal (a necessary evil) & get rid of someone who didn't want to be here. While I agree with you, Will Borgen is not as bad as Rangers Fans think, especially on a team that is struggling defensively & that both can be flipped at Trade Deadline, I think that if you do not expect Kappo Kakko to be The 2nd Overall Pick he was, he's a very decent player. Let me know what you think
CORRECTION: Borgen is on an expiring contract as well where he'll be a UFA. I said he had another year left, but the source I got that from was wrong.
Still Kakko being an RFA does give the Kraken more options than they had with Borgen.
With the abysmal rangers development program it's a wonder they don't just trade away their picks from the start
I'm not to familiar with Borgen but this seems like a "what do you have to lose" deal for Kraken. I wish VGK made a run at him
