From rumor that leafs maybe looking at replacing David Kampf with a cheaper option leafs was hoping for Conner Dewar to be that but he hasn't show he can be that and leafs maybe at Mason McTavish as good cheaper fit then Dewar and Mason McTavish as 3 goals, 9 assets, 12 points, 47.6 Fo%, 156 FoW, 14 blocked shots and 22 hits is 22 years old and paid 897k aav is RFA to David Kampf 0 goals 3 assets, 3 points 87 FoW and 55.1 Fo% 9 blocked shots and 17 hits and paid 2.4m and is 29 years
Thanks as always guys, great points indeed! I like status quo for the interim just because it seems that some of these guys r finding chemistry and that can be valuable beyond a seemingly good move. The last thing TO needs and has plagued them in the past is letting go of someone who produces like a champ somewhere else. In my humble opinion, leaving the TO market can do wonders for a player just because they rid themselves of some of the mainstream baggage that this market is inundated with.
Keep JT where he is.He is playing great on both side of the puck.
Really it depends on how Tre' see's the team. Does he think they could win?, if so go all in and get whatever one or two players he believes will put them over the top, it will be worth the cost, If he feels they cannot quite do it by tinkering around with lower line up players, keep your line up the same and start planning for next year.
Tavares is Dynamite…all these commentators not realizing how good he is is just silly at this point. HE LEADS THE LEAGUE in puck battles won. He has 15 goals and 31 points in 32 games. He does things that the other 3 top forwards don't or can't do. The vast majority of the league would kill for him to be their second centre.
Why would you break up the 3rd line. Domi, Robertson, and McMann are pure gas.
Scott Laughton is a 4th line center on our team IMO. Replacement for Kampf. Not really what they need. We need a center that can also score. We CANNOT rely on the core to score in the playoffs!
At this point. Leafs should just be focused on a single Blockbuster trade.
Laughton is a great 3rd line centre . Very good defensively and can score some goals . I would love him instead of kampf . He can also move down the lineup . Kampf and a 3rd rounder for Laughton ?
Always like Laughton . Toronto born , has lots of grit. Great two way player who can score some goals and play up and down the line up . Pretty friendly cap hit at $3 m a season . If we can somehow get him for kampf and maybe a draft pick I’d be all in .
With the play of JT this year I don’t think they’re looking for a top 6 centre . I think there looking for a good 3rd line centre who can move up and down the line up as needed . Yes the 3rd line has been great but we don’t know how long it will last , domi isn’t really a natural centre . Scott Laughton would be a great pick up , I’d love Kadri too but I don’t know how they would get that done as he’s gotta much higher cap space .
With the play of the 3rd line of late and JT, I’m wondering if we need a top 4 dman before another forward . I haven’t liked out defensive game lately : Timmins hasn’t been good at he last few games although most of year he’s been good. Also , Benoit has been mediocre lately as well. Morgan Reilly is a team worse -8 , he needs to figure that out
Laughton a great player Berube kinda guy too . Great two way player who can score goals when needed . Can jump up and down line up .
No on both of the names you mentioned. We need another offensive threat. We have Kampf, there is no need for another Kampf. Obviously you don’t want a guy that is a liability defensively. But d shouldn’t be the primary concern. This team can’t score, that’s the most important issue. You can’t win if you can’t score. Period

Matthew's line is playing like the worst line right now, domi #1, tavares #2, Kampf #3, mathews #4, until 16 wants to go in the corners this #1 line will be negated again in the playoffs, marner for tage thompson plus
What about Dylan Couzens from the Sabres?
How about Mikael Granlund from San Jose. I think he'd be a good fit with Willy Nylander, and he's a pending UFA.
Laughton is nice but we could use a right handed C. All the leafs Cs are lefties

NOoooo! Don’t trade Robertson. You always need goals. (Team Canada doesn’t need Bedard?) The elephant in the room is Knies, who at this early stage in his career is borderline top 6 material. Ideally, the Leafs keep both, but I would trade Knies before Robertson (and Mcman before Knies.)
