Lol you are building something special not until you build a tough huge fast hard to play against bottom 6 as well the defence has to get a lot bigger and tougher before they even have a chance to win playoff hockey

Savard shouldnt need a retention at all for a 2026 1st….who cares if primeau is claimed off waivers…. who cares if we trade matheson and savard , mathesin is not a real vet , he has never won anything nor done anything in his career , can always sign a real vet in free agency
IMO the veteran D are needed and trading them would weaken the defense. Hutson, who has a lot of talent, turns the puck over too often. Also trading Savard would leave the team with one RHD. Trading Kovacevic was a mistake. He paired well with whoever his D partner was. Dvorak can at least play the PK. However, I do believe he's UFA season end. Evans is a must to resign. Role players like Armia, Anderson, Galagher are needed. Heineman could possibly play 2nd line. I'd love to see Dach and Newhook traded but I don't think any teams would want Dach.
Need a 2nd line center to play with Laine and Demidov next season.
trading Primeau to the Devils would be hilarious after we dumped Allen on them last year. We dump all our old useless D on Detroit and under performing goalies on the New Jersey.

3 things after todays game vs Detroit
1) I wish Cole shot more he looks for the passes and I swear they are so forced. Ik he knows he can shoot and they need him to shoot more.
2) DAMN OUR 4th Line is great
3) we need to somehow teach slaf and dach how to use their size to be effective (they need to learn how to be able to crash the net from every angle with the puck) why u ask its so that they can lure defenders to them. right now as soon as they get a defender on them they become useless to the play so they go and screen the trendy now imagine if they could play the 1 on 1 and bring another dman to em, it opens up so many possibilities that the goalie now has to worry about and that would help point 1 of making Cole and laine get more shots 5 on 5 hope this makes sense

If anything we should be more worried about Laine taking over Caufields spot on the PP. I dont want cole to go cold and lose his confidence on his shooting
If we're going to trade anyone to NJ or anywhere else, the two players I'd put at the very top of the list to move would be Dach and Newhook. Not Armia, not Evans, not Matheson, not Savard, not Anderson, not even Dvorak. At least each of those guys contribute *something*! Here's what Dach and Newhook contribute:
Dach = 32 games, 9 points, and MINUS 23
Newhook = 32 games, 6 points, and minus 13.
No way the Habs are taking even the smallest step forward with these guys occupying key spots in our lineup. They're BRUTAL. Can't create offense, (even with prime opportunities constantly handed to them on the PP), and they're defensive liabilities. The trades to acquire them, for Romanov and 1st, 2nd, & 3rd rd picks amounts to two of the worst trades in the entire NHL in the past five years. Add the Lehkonen and Kovasevic trades, and anyone who thinks Hughes is somehow a master trade architect is just fooling themselves.

I'd trade Matheson and keep Savard for his leadership. Dvorak has been playing really good lately.
Savard might be traded, but not until we are closer to the deadline. With 50 games still to play and the Habs sitting only 7 pts out of a wildcard spot and the addition of Carrier to bolster our D it is not impossible to get "back in the mix" Besides, I want him to teach Xhekaj as much as possible before getting traded. The difference in Wifi's play since being paired with Savard is huge.
Savard won’t leave Montreal. With his family situation Savard will leave hockey rather than move.
In my opinion I think Prime's should have got a few more games by this point
