Huge hit in a game between the Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils on MOnday, February 8th, 2010 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
I think the shoulder obviously rocked him, but it's possible that the chin to the ice did him in. The hit may not have been that terrible, though his shoulder was a little high considering the man already shot the puck and the play was over.
clean hit, guy had his head down and he was just finishing his check, the hit happened pretty much right when the goal went in so it was clean. Unfortunate for Salmela that he got injured but it was just one of those things that happens, nothing wrong with the check
@xxZZPOPSxx hitting someone from the blindside is not a dirty play, only if you specifically target the head and only make contact to the head is it even near being a penalty, on this hit it is high yes, but it is clear Carter was just looking to flat out drill him, and not100% to the head., he makes plenty of shoulder contact.
as a Flyers fan i think its a clean hit, as a hockey fan i also think this is a clean hit. it may have been blind side, but these days you cant hit a guy if he can see you. he also made shoulder to shoulder contact. so my opinion is, CLEAN

There was actually quite a bit of blood on the ice after this hit. Got to this game a little late and walked in just as this happened.
