As a Tampa fan I'm honestly surprised it took Cernak this long to do something suspension worthy. But I still love his style and presence, besides the over the line stuff
as a bolts fan i feel cernak got of lightly but the NHL set a precedent when bortuzzo only got 4 so 2 is properly about right maybe 3
Should have been a game for the Kucherov hit on Sobotka as well. The refs are turning a suspiciously blind eye to the lightning being dirty af
Wow has it busy with all the suspensions. I miss the guy's deep voice; "this is elbowing"
Ref's can't see everything. That being said I think your cat has flees.
Apparently the NHL is more worried about a cootie outbreak than player safety.
Having watched the NHL’s description of this and the Blues incident I think the league needs to take garbage like this more seriously. When I watch them I feel like they are trying to say “it’s bad, but not THAT bad”.
That bad but… NEVER spit on someone!
If Dahlin is out for a prolonged period of time, then this is getting absurd. 2-4 games for taking guys out for weeks? Something needs to give
I don't think cernak was being predatory. This is out of character for him
Good thing he only elbowed someone and gave him a concussion. Imagine if he had spit on him
i say 2 game suspension for both referees 😀 and im still a proponent of if your play is suspension worhy and leads to an injury it should be at least the amount of time the injured player is out
Meh
The officiating has been going downhill majorly over the past 3 seasons. It's becoming pathetic at best.
Not calling clear and blatint infractions right infront of our face. To calling phantom ones just for the hell of it.
I don't agree with the amount of games they gave him and I'm really pissed off by their decision. This is Dahlin's first injury since entering the league and it wasn't even due to a hockey play! This reminds me of the incident that lead to Pettersson getting his first concussion last year. Matheson threw Petey down just to hurt him. Cernak threw a blindside high elbow directly at Dahlin's face for no reason other than to injure him. He tried to injure Eichel in the second Sweden game as well. It disgusts me to see two young stars get concussions from actions that could have been avoided by two reckless players. Fans pay to see Pettersson and Dahlin play. How many fans are paying to see Matheson and Cernak play? It really makes no sense that the league doesn't even try to do more to protect their stars. They should protect all their players equally but losing star players to these avoidable injuries cost them more money. This league does not care about player safety and it's sickening to see! They treat the players like products instead of people. Head hits should be ten games or more. I had plans to buy tickets to a few games next year but I won't be buying any tickets until I see the league show some respect to players safety. These guys are human first and I actually give a damn about their long term health. I want them to live long and health lives after they retire. I'm also a fairly new fan and seeing this along with the God awful officiating is starting to make me lose interest in the league. Hockey is the best sport in the world but the NHL is ruining it. I don't plan to buy any NHL or Fanatics products either until I see this change. I love your videos Shannon and I would still continue watching your videos even if I stopped watching NHL games one day. I love your commentary and sense of humor. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what I've said here. I really value your opinions because you are very knowledgeable. Keep up the great work!

Crazy how giving a top player a concussion is a 2 game suspension. That's nothing to them you still have 80 more games. Meanwhile the other player has a concussion.
Yeah I wonder about the ref's too………..and honestly I am surprised it was only 2 games, elbow and point of contact kinda made me think it was going to be at least 3, but hey what do I know. Its starting to get to the point where the NFL is at with pass interference calls.
I think the NHL needs to come down hard on all intentionally injury with a forfeit of the game and the player should be suspended till the injured player returns or retires
What about all those injured Swedes? Landeskog, Arvidsson, Zebanejad, (Hornqvist and Hedman are just back)?
NHL sending a message that it is okey to hurt other players with elbows etc and only get a 2 games rest while the other player might be out for weeks. But lord have mercy on you if you spit on someone. Joke league.
2 games is nothing, it’s just letting guys know they can head hunt elite players.
Just don’t spit on them.
Absolute joke the DoPS is. If something is blatant, the player should be suspended for as long as the injured player is out. This was blatant. The Lightning trying to defend it is even more gross, arguing Dahlin helped cause concussion by moving the elbow toward his head with his glove. But maybe the worst thing about all of this? ZERO RESPONSE BY THE TEAM AFTER IT HAPPENED. YOUR FRANCHISE 19 YEAR OLD DEFENSEMAN WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE GAME WITH A CHEAP SHOT AND THERE IS ZERO RESPONSE FROM ANYONE ON THE ICE. It's getting really hard to stomach how soft my Sabres are. This happens frequently because teams know they can get away with it without having to answer the bell. It's pathetic and sad.
That's worse than spitting.
They should be suspended for the same length of time the injured player is out, plus additionally, the number of games suspended for the crime itself. And pay for it too (at least when it is a deliberate attack). That is the only thing that would be fair.
It was not even a hard hit. He tried to stop him and accidentaly hit his head instead of his body soo 2 maybe 3 is about right
The NHL should link the length of a suspension with the length of time a player misses if an injury occurs. Who defends the rights of the injured player (nobody)?
Two isn’t enough. This was a vicious elbow that caught Dahlin way up high. This stuff needs to be out of the game. It’s the refs job to make sure that penalty is called every single time. Should have been the game. No place for crazy rogue elbows in NHL. Come on refs, definitely dropped the ball (or puck I guess)
you asked…i think it's too harsh…at full speed, it's hard to stop a check…but i get it, in this day and age of the lets play sissy hockey.
Buffalo has never gotten the benefit of the doubt. Total horseshit he only got 2 games.
It wasn't a intentional elbow he we going body and Dahlin moved at same time .turning it into a forearm to face.
