Pennies on the dollar for Drury. I can’t believe he can be that incompetent. I would rather tell myself he got a call from mad man Dolan and told him get rid of this guy now!

Terrible. Kakko 'was' part of the future core of this roster. A good 200' player. Looks like Drury is going to undue the 2018 rebuild. Someone should tell Drury the goal of trade is to get better, NOT WORSE. This trade is a continuation of the current downward spiral. Drury is working to get run out of town by the fan base. Meanwhile Miller, Lindgren, Kreider, Smith and Zibanijed are still on this roster.
Drury can't win though, I almost think that no matter who he traded away the fans would still be whining to him. We've been hating on Kaapo his whole career and once he's gone we treat him like a king and praise him for what he did. I wouldn't want to be in NY if I was him.
Totally agree with you saying Kakko," Was not the issue" with this team's troubles.
That said,this MAY be that rare trade where both players and both teams get real benefit.
Kakko was always behind the 8 ball in NY, with the unending Hughes comparisons…the Rangers never had a chance of getting Hughes…but defenseman Moritz Seider went #6 in that draft and that's an interesting "what if."
I'm not mad kakkos gone , I dont think he was ever built for NY , I'm mad Drury wasted his value and got what in the end will amount to F all for him.
I knew Kakko was getting traded after he came out publicly ripping the Rangers. But holy shit, DRURY GOT NO VALUE FOR KAKKO! F grade on the trade. The defensemen they got was awful, the only thing of "SLIGHT" value was a third round pick. Kakko is 100% right. Lavi choose to bench a younger player, over a vet. The Vets are the ones responsible for the horrible play, not the younger players so fucking bench a vet NOT A YOUNG PLAYER. I'm so over this Rangers management and coaching staff at this point. Lavi is doing the same thing that got him ran out of Washington and that's spoiling the vets and punishing the younger players. Gut the whole damn management.
Terrible terrible trade by Drury and a really awful look for the organization with the way this kid was treated by coaching staff & how his development was ruined. You can’t get much worse than this

We got two lottery tickets and a 7th defenseman for our 2nd overall pick. Drury selling low once again. Hopefully he does better with future sell offs. Here's the thing though the Rangers are not winning again til 2025 . That'll be at a minimum an eight game losing streak. You think fans and media are nuts now wait til the calendar flips imagine what we'll be saying then. Lol. Drury might be looking for work lol

Rangers are done
Drury traded Trouba and Kakko for two third pair , if that, defensemen, a third ,fourth and sixth round draft picks and $6.6 million in cap space. The team is arguably worse than it was before the trades. I wonder if they could’ve traded Trouba and Kakko to the Ducks for Fowler and Vatrano with Anaheim also retaining some salary. We already know that the Ducks wanted to trade Fowler for Trouba. The Rangers would have improved immediately and Kreider and Mika would have a right winger that they already had success with.
Not surprised Kakko was traded, but they got very little back which is also to be expected. He got two opportunities on what was the top line & he failed. He should have been traded two years ago actually. This opens up a spot for Berard at this point, who is an upgrade on Kakko. One can never hold one player as responsible for a team dysfunction, but Kakko never was my cup of tea. He may blossom as a scorer in Seattle, who knows, but he was never going to be an important piece on the Rangers. I won't miss him.

Im officially on team fire Drury. Thought the team was acting like a bunch of soft prima donnas(they are) l, but this was horrendous.
Each move since the end of last season has been a disaster.
if he was so great defensively, why wasn't he used on the Penalty Kill?
We need defense, we need someone with grit and Will brings that. Kakko is going to get paid next year and we need to save some cap. He was never a top line player. He should’ve never been the second pick.
Coulda traded him last year in a package and got Jake Guentzal and held on to him, now we get Will Who? What a joke Drury just leave

While I'm not thrilled with the return, Kappo Kakko wanted out & for years we've all been talking about it. Chris Drury likely saw this as A Necessary Evil, especially since I didn't see hom getting resigned. I'm thinking that the low return (no disrespect to Will Borgen) was because he wanted out & thus leaving Chris Drury with little or no leverage. Let me know what you think

I’m sorry, but kakko was lost we had to play at the end of the game, for instance where he was crashing the net with the puck behind the net and he was facing the blue line. He’s a borderline moron or spaz. Hopefully, he gets better for himself cause I like the guy, but I mean the only positive you can say about him as he was solid defensively who gives a rip about that a player like him could be found in the middle of a dartboard of 1000 players. I do believe they mismanage the situation, but nothing lost nothing gained over this honestly except for the pick itself when it was taken.
Glenn Sather's veteran player love has returned in a big way. Shame on the organization for thinking trading Kakko for a low-pairing defender and scraps was a good idea. This team needs to line ducks up in a row and get its s*** together. Also, Zbad should get a nice disciplinary benching for his ineptitude on the ice. #LGR
Rangers dropped the ball on this.. The Rangers failed to develop him correctly.. Could've gotten a much better return if it was a package deal with Miller too… Kappo will definitely score on the Rangers… 😮😮😮

Kakka was never going to reach his full potential in New York, that being said, he was one of a few bright spots in this defensively abysmal team. Trading him at this point shows that Drury is not making the right calls. I would sooner try to trade zibanejad or miller, both of whom have been liabilities on the ice. Kakko is one of the few guys who was competent defensively. His current deal was a "prove it" deal, and as far as I'm concerned, he was proving it. It's a damn shame
