Will Rangers be making any more trades? Where do Sabres go from here? | Jay On SC

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun joins SC with Jay Onrait to share his thoughts on Kaapo Kakko getting dealt to Seattle, if he thinks the Rangers will make any more trades, what’s next for the Sabres after they extended their winless drought to 11 games and updates the Canucks and Oilers’ search for a top four defenceman.

  1. Montreal has some decent veteran defence man. The Habs should have made this deal. Upside would have been worth it

  2. Clearly the team has given up. Unless someone is fired the Rangers will continue to suck. Maybe they should punt on the season and go for the #1 pick.

  3. Ad a Rangers fan this was very bad trade for us, good luck in Seattle Kappo you will be missed..

  4. I can't believe I am saying this because 2 years ago I though he was the best GM in the game but Drury has to go. IDK if he is on drugs or something but how do you fuck a team up so bad so quickly? This guy should be embarrassed to show his face in NYC. Getting rid of Goodrow was his first wrong step and unfortunately that step was off a cliff and not a small hill.

  5. Pens fan: Kaapo Kakko had 18 goals and 40 points 1 season. He had 0 PPGs and only 3 PPPts in his 40 point season. Kaapo Kakko has a chance. We'll see. I would have traded Marcus Pettersson from the Pens for Kakko.

  6. On the plus size in the off season the Rangers will have enough money for Tkachuk or Marner.

  7. Sabres fans out here like, WE'LL TAKE DRURY. YOU WANT KEVYN ADAMS IN RETURN? – A Sabres fan

  8. NYR fan: This trade is not only terrible but absolutely tone deaf. Kakko should've been playing Mika's minutes. Drury is our problem, he's ruined the image of the club and the players see it for what it is.

  9. I call BS on Pierre here. When the rumor broke that Kakko was being shopped Drury said it would have to be a "perfect offer" to move him. If his definition of a perfect offer is a 7/8 D man and some late picks we can stop searching for the issue. This was absolutely reactionary. Jim Ramsay spoke up for himself and was axed. Trouba pushed back and they made it public. Kakko said something publicly and we see how quickly he was moved. Drury probably thinks Kakko is pretentious for speaking up bc in his mind he was once a 23yr old in the NHL except that for Drury it was only his 2nd year and he walked into a locker room with a HoF player at every position (Sakic, Forsberg, Bourque, Roy) and a ton of veteran all-stars who never took a shift off. Kakko gets invisible at 5v5 Kreider, miss the net Mika, troublemaker Trouba, and "show me the money" Shesterkin to go along with 4 coaches, endless drama within management, and a player development team made up of legendary point producers in their time Jed Ortmeyer and Tanner Glass who combined had fewer points in their career than Kakko does now (true story)

  10. Drury is an absolute bum in the way he's handled the players. They hate him now. He humiliated vets as well as the organization. Handled it all with zero class and should be fired immediately.

  11. Just watching the highlights of the sabres defense on here alone shows how inept their D coaching staff sucks

  12. surprise? Drury has been trying to sell Kakko for ages. last summer, last year, the year before that. Lot of people commenting about how Kakko failed to live up to expectations, but the Rangers did him no favors either. He never got a real chance to develop and become the player he can be. He had every right to say what he said after getting scratched. He did not deserve that and was one of the few forwards who was actually performing. I drank the Kooliade last year but our 5v5 numbers last year and into the playoffs weren't great. We were a high speed high scoring team living and dying on goaltending. This year we got exposed for what we are. Drury is largely to blame for this, he assembled this team and the manner he treated Goodrow and Trouba tells players that you can come to NY, do your job and play for the shirt and management will not hesitate to throw you face first into a woodchipper. I'm happy for Kakko, he's finally free of this toxic organization and I hope he flourishes playing for a team that will actually give him a chance to be a PP and PK in addition to being a good 2 way winger.
