Rangers deserve what's happening to them. Can't give your goalie that much money. Shitjerkin isn't worth it….every player on Rangers roster knows this fact…..and their letting everyone else know they know.
Honestly, i don't think Kakko is that good.
This is a steal already and it will age to be even better for Seattle.
What a weird trade, rangers got absolute nothing for him.
Here is me hoping Kakko light the house on FIRE with the kraken.
The Rangers have to improve the "dressing room" and Kakko is a disruptive force. Not saying he is not justified in his criticism but a player who is publicly vocal about their team's management is not what the team needs.
I think the Rangers' return reflected other GMs opinion of his behaviour.
Sad to see that it took Kakko 6 years to get away from Rags. During that time, Kakko has shown small glimmers of his ability, but never reached a higher stable level.
Rags are proven to be awful at player development and many other teams in the league would have done a better job with Kakko for sure. Congratulations to Kakko and Kraken who get him, unfortunately it didn't become my own team (RW).

I hope kakko breaks out and becomes the stud he was expected to be. Rangers handled his development poorly. They also treated him as the scapegoat repeatedly. Instead of trying to trade off the real problems they got rid of a young guy on a friendly contract. They are no better after this trade.
The NYR are melting down. This team is a literal dumpster fire (no soul, no values) and I'm glad for the players who get to leave the ship before it sinks again.

Rangers were my #1 pick to win the cup this season, but how things have gone lately I don't think it's realistic anymore.

I agree that Kakko needs something better than NYR. As a lifelong Rangers fan, I'm absolutely gutted to lose him, the best of future prospects for the team. I know +/- doesn't only look at the player but look at Kakko 23-24 +6 and 24-25 +9, as compared to Borgen 23-24 -5 and 24-25 -13. The Rangers certainly need greater depth in D, but Kakko was the best N/S defensively activated forward they had. And don't get me going about Trouba (Vaakanainen, really???)… I'd just love to know the Laviolette/Drury long-term strategy.

As a life long NY fan I am so happy for KK now maybe he will getthe minutes he needs to open up. Seattle picked up a great player. And NY gets to add another young player they destroyed to their list

I know the vibes are bad in NY rn but this trade in a vacuum is fine. I dont think Kakko will ever live up to his draft stock and the Rangers desperately need a roster churn.

Great pickup for Seattle. Kakko was not the issue in NY. Looking at how Zibanejad is playing Kakko should of been taking some of this time.
I hope Kaapo Kakko play to center and Tolvanen is his line. That could be sensational duo in Kraken.

Shesterkin was a fool for signing an extension with this team. Shesterkin is the best goalie in the NHL but the team in front of him sucks. And it's only going to get worse.

I think Seattle comes out ahead here. Borgen is 28 6'3" 204 and was playing just over 15 minutes a night. he played 82 games as a third pair defender on what was a very tight Seattle defense the last two years. The Kraken are doing that scoring by committee thing so there a lot of slightly talented guys all through the line-up. Kakko could feed into that.
On the plus size in the off season the Rangers will have enough money for Tkachuk or Marner.
