Kakko gets hate because of draft position. He’s a serviceable winger who plays responsible defense. He was never put in a good position to be honest. Young kid from Finland with no other Finnish teammates to help him. Put on 4th line with zero offensive help.
Smith was also scratched, then came back and scored a bunch of goals
Compare Jack Hughes to kakko Jack Hughes has more points in a season then kakko entire career and that’s every season
Getting tired of Laviolette. Rather than scratch non-performers, he scratches Kakko. He mixes up the lines so guys that have never played together learn how to play with linemates during the game. There's a recipe for success.

At this point unfortunately even if the coach is not a problem that team is beyond fixing itself. We need new ideas and a new looks on things. We can’t trade players that we would like to do because of the contracts. We need to wait till next season for big changes and in that case, I will repeat myself again and again play REMPE!!! and if he takes stupid penalties we are better on PK than 5v5 anyways so it’s a win win situation. We need to do something now and stop stargazing and that is up to the coach, it’s his job and if he can’t do that, then he needs to go.
To all those who say Kappo Kakko is a bust. I have but one thing to say. Blame the moron who thought he would be worthy of a number 2 overall pick. It's not Kakkos fault he was drafted so high. Obviously someone got something wrong. That is not Kakkos fault. All he can control is his own play, not what anybody thought he would be.

Everybody keeps saying they looked a little bit better trying to find excuses anything would look a little bit better playing against the worst team in hockey. Are you joking? Let’s cut it out. That’s part of the problem. There’s about six players on that team that have to go.
They are lethargic they don’t skate hard. The defense is zero enough.

Great takes. Also, Kakko got shafted the exact same way 2 years ago in the playoffs by Gallant. The fact that he kept his cool, accepted responsibility for a underwhelming season last year and gets this treatment again must have been his last straw before speaking his mind.
Kaapo would fit perfectly in Minnesota – good team, vibrant hockey culture, and the largest Finnish-American and Scandinavian-American community in the U.S. Better ice too, but that's a given. If I were him, I'd do everything in my power to get the heck out of that toxic sh*thole, NYC.
KK is one of the FEW on this team who puts forth an honest effort every game. He deserves better just for the effort alone
I dont want Kakko to be traded!! He has done good so far this year, scratch and trade the ones that do nothing, like the veterans!

Where people get picked in a draft is not on them. Its the Rangers issue bc they picked a European player from a totally different game than what it is here in the US. Kakko should request a trade
You can’t blame a player for the level of his pick, WHO thought he was a #2 pick. Blame the guy who picked him at #2. This is old news with this team, they ALWAYS pass on stars. Management is HORRIBLE !!!
with every thing thats been going on sitting Kakko out really makes no sense hell everything with the Rangers makes no sense. as with most of us Ranger fans we love hockey the greatest ,toughest sport on earth .we grew up dreaming about playing in the NHL .these guys have the opportunity and the honor to play for the New York Rangers .please find a way to dig deep inside yourselves and be the men and athletes we know you can be . i still say Drury should be fired yesterday.

Well I guess there isn't anyone here enjoying the news about Kakko's trade. I had an unfortunate feeling that he got scratched because there was a trade coming. Sucks that hes one that gets punished because of the players that aren't giving their all

say what you will about Kakko but he was set up to fail in NY. He put in work and this year he was head and shoulders better than he ever was. Getting traded was the best thing that ever could have happened for him and I wish him the best. If I were on the Rangers right now I'd be looking for way out myself.
