  1. I think Barron is still a good player with some solid offensive upside. I think the fact that Hutson has just slid into the top 4 and immediately became an offensive AND defensive threat made Barron expendable. I think that he will do well with Nashville and they historically have a more defensive oriented system, so that might help round out his game. Wishing him the best and hoping Carrier does well for us for the latter part of this season.

  2. It's a W in my books. Habs get a more proved leader defenseman with a better all around game who's also from Quebec here. Not to mention Barron just wasn't fitting in AT ALL this year. I believe he has a single point throughout like 20 games and plays pretty poor defense and is a smaller dman. To me though this is interesting because is this signaling Kent Hughes is already in a buyers mindset? I mean to me your moving off a young guy whos shown flashes of a potential Sean Durzi esk defenseman for more of a leader package which you already know what your getting.

  3. It's an alright move, it adds stabillity to the D core, but Habs still have too many D-men, more will need to go. Reinbacher is our next Right D, hopefully. When Carrier is gone, doesn't matter if he's on smaller side, they are not winning a Cup anytime soon.

  4. Great video. Carriere has some pop in his game. He reminds me of Spurgeon. If your theory is right about Savard maybe being on the move at some point, Carriere may be a good partner for Guhle.

  5. Cap ht and he's from Quebec… Savrad will be gone 100%, they are building for the future, a potential Cup winner can use Savard on third pairing. Reinbacher will be right soon enough, hopefull

  6. A dumb move. We had Kovacevic. and trade him to New Jersey. I get that Barron was not great but he was biggerat 6-2 200 pounds. Carrier is a smurf at 5-11 174 pounds. What a joke

  7. This trade is an admission that letting Kovacevic go was a mistake. Kovacevic is a better player than Carrier

  8. Carrier was playing big minutes against top lines on the right side in Nashville, he’s more solid defensively and will bring stability, compared to Barron who has a higher ceiling but lower floor , good trade maybe a Pairing guy with Hutson

  9. funny when i read comments, no one fleecing no one at the moment of the trade, we trade because these players arent good for the actual team. We will only see later that some players fit better with the new team. Nothing special of trade obviously, as habs fan Barron had no future here.

  10. 3 year contract a big negative for a small mediocre d-man. Perhaps they could offer Savard a 3 year deal to stay around the same cap hit.
