The New York Rangers are in a free fall. Let’s take a look at how they look the NHLs most broken team.

  1. Dude I’m telling you, this isn’t the same team, they don’t wanna play, they identify what they do wrong and don’t care, lowkey they may be protesting tryna get drury fired bc they don’t like how he handled shit w goody and troubs this is all drury, not Lavi, not Mika, but drury

  2. Surprised no one in the comments im seeing is blaming Peter Laviolette, he is probably the problem in the locker room. As a caps fan we are starting to hear that he is the reason Kuzy wanted out of Washington. Glad we got rid of him when we did so he didnt ruin anyone else and it has taken Carbery over a season to get us to where we are now.

  3. What's been happening to Zibanejad? I don't follow the Rangers so I only get to read some comments or hear a few words about him. How did he become supposedly bad?

  4. Interesting analysis. Never agreed with strictly a zone defence. We were taught to play zone on D until the rush gained the blue line and depending on the play transition to one on one to the net. I guess you call that hybrid? New term to this old fossil. Hockey is a fluid game and the F3 has to be smart, on the pinch he has to cover for the D. Not be in no man's land which seemed to be the case in may of the examples you chose to show. Also pinching is always dangerous and should not be used unless it is 100% or you are behind and pushing the play. Habs fan but really liked watching Rangers last year, they were exciting. Fast paced.

  5. Anyone that doesn't realize that a whole team doesn't just start failing is plain oblivious to facts. MANAGEMENT – yes the guys who aren't playing is the singular problem.

  6. Reminds me of the Sens heartbreak in the conference finals of 2017. Team was never the same. Keep your heads up guys.

  7. In yet another "horrifying act of violence" from the Washington Capitals, the Rags are now experiencing the Laviolette curse.

  8. Great video, @hockeypsychology. You nailed it. And yes, they sure are broken. This is ALL on the players. Not the coaching staff. The players. And the players need to grow the hell up. If you want to stop playing because Chris Drury told the other 31 general managers he is willing to trade almost anyone on the team, that's only going to make you look bad, not him. They got the 2 previous coaches fired. The players claim they haven't quit on Peter Laviolette. Maybe they support him, but they still play with ZERO heart and no urgency to win whatsoever. After that loss in Nashville last night, it looks very bleak the Rangers will turn it around with a much tougher schedule ahead. Only ONE win all season against a current playoff team… ONE. That was November 19th in Toronto.

The time is now. Move on from this core group that quit on the organization and start a full rebuild.

  9. Eventually you get exposed. You have aging players who do not give what is needed. You have a goaltender who will be a burden with his contract. You have a defense that is slow, timid, and positionally inept. How is ANY of this a surprise ??

  10. I have a theory….

One player banged another player's wife. What else could destroy a locker room so quickly?

  11. Corporations are not measured by "wins". They sell asian slave labor apparel. Business is good because fat, drunk nobodies live vicariously through their employees.

  12. They traded Jacob “elbow your face” Tuba, but still have LavaToilet, so glad to see them doing so well.

  13. This is more of the Rangers team that I expected them to be. Shesterkin is their superstar, they need someone up front to support Panarin. Currently nobody seems to know how to do that. Their defensemen are all okay, but nobody comes close to Fox. If he’s not on the ice, good luck.
    Go Bruins!

  14. Are the Rangers the New York Jets of hockey? The parallels are insane. All of this hype and large expectations coming into the year. Things don't exactly perfect so lets start making idiotic moves way too early in the season. It then snowballs into a much worse season.

  15. The Rangers have always been a great team on paper, but that's exactly the problem. People may forget this now, but the Rangers were one of the main reasons the NHL salary cap became a thing in the first place. In the mid 2000s their strategy was just to fill a roster full of overpriced former stars and hope they could find collective chemistry.

All it led to was a financial situation so dire the NHL had to partially fix it themselves and subsequently implement the cap to stop teams from fricking themselves like this in the future. Pavel Bure, Eric Lindros, Petr Nedved, Vladimir Malakhov, Bobby Holik, Mark Messier returning, none of it worked and all of it failed.

In 2022-23 it was the same thing. Acquiring Kane and Tarasenko to gear up for a big playoff run and have a deadly intimidating roster on paper. But in practice, both Kane and Tarasenko were hurt and far from their usual selves.

There's always a million issues bubbling underneath the foundation of what looks to be a solid team, and that's just what happens when you have a lot of big stars and big personalities.

Personally I think the Rangers were at their best when guys like Zuccarello, Stepan and Brassard were the offensive leaders. The team was focused on building chemistry with a bunch of solid players as opposed to 3 or 4 stars you hope can figure things out amongst themselves.

Idk what needs to be done but its an insane situation to say the least. If anything I hope Panarin can head somewhere else and just destroy the league like everyone knows he can.

  16. The video refer to a previous one who talk more extensively about teams switching to hybrid defense instead of zone or man to man.

    which video is it ?
