Winnipeg Jets Practice Report: Connor Hellebuyck (good insight on controversial goal allowed)

Jets two-time Vezina winner Connor Hellebuyck had plenty to say about yesterday’s goalie interference that wasn’t according to the NHL. He shared his insight, how he’s tried to help the NHL make things more black and white/less gray, how good the team is playing in front of him and more.

  1. The refs in the game were Furman South #13, and Chris Lee #28 . looking forward to see how the calls go the next time the officiate a jets game.

  2. Love Helle's candid words here…and notice how team-first he always is. He props up his teammates in front of him and never ever says a bad thing about any of them.

  3. So tackling the goalie and scoring a goal is not goalie interference? The NHL is a crazy league.

  4. The announcers on FanDuel felt like the play was 50/50 chance that it was goaltender interference although their initial reaction that it was going to be called back when they saw the replay (and they were calling the game for Tampa). That said if you miss the puck and topple a defender, it's called tripping. In this play if you don't want to call it interference, it is still tripping.

  5. Don’t let that 2 referees be in Jets game in the near future. Its in the clip that KC also attacked at the back referee saw it and did not make any call. Dirty Referees

  6. Maybe the player who pushed his pad with his stick was also being pushed by a Jet into the crease?

  7. There was nothing tough about this call. The player buried his stick into the pads and shoved. This pushed the goalie out of position. Should of been the easiest review ever. Shame on the league on this one.

  8. At least we all know, and see, in real time, how refs ultimately decide the direction of the game, and let's be clear, last year had A TONE of bad calls against said Jets, we'll see again more of this, and at least we're aware.

  9. Referees are there to make calls as they see them, so how come they didn't see what everyone else did?

  10. Despite finally failing to secure two points in a game after losing 6-4 to the Leafs at home last Monday, the Jets are going nowhere in the NHL Power Rankings. Winnipeg followed up its first defeat with back-to-back-to-back shellackings. The Jets beat the Red Wings 6-2, the Blue Jackets 6-2 and the Lightning 7-4. Talk about a response. Make that 11-1 for a roster that is showing no signs of slowing down whatsoever. This team is scoring a ridiculous 4.92 goals per game and producing prolifically on the powerplay with a scorching 44.1 percent success rate. Those numbers are both tops in the league, and with Connor Hellebuyck hurtling towards another Vezina Trophy, the Jets could be hanging around at the top of the hill long-term.

  11. That whole game the reffing was awful, so many missed calls. Games like that are so frustrating to watch. All we want is consistency
