The Colorado Avalanche made a BOLD move on Monday, trading for San Jose Sharks goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood in exchange for Alexandar Georgiev, Nikolai Kovalenko, a 2025 fifth-round draft pick and a 2026 second-round pick. The Avs also received Givani Smith and a fifth-round draft pick in the 2027 NHL Draft. Colorado’s goalie issues have been well documented this season. Nate Lundy and Shawn Drotar react to the trade for the Avalanche.

No shocker
Blackwood is a starter btw
I can't lie pretty bad takes in this video imo
Awful takes.
Blackwood has been an impressive goalie playing behind terrible defenses. He should be a very good goalie in net for the Avalanche. I think he is the most skilled goalie we've had in a while.
I am a sharks fan so this is a different perspective I recommend you guys watch Sharks vs NJ and Sharks vs Caps both very solid games show a good overview of what you are getting and then a less solid game like sharks vs Ottawa I personally believe on a good team he is a starter (unless he falls off a cliff)
Dont know much about Givani Smith or Mackenzie Blackwood
Blackwood is a flop and no playoff goalie
Blackwood is a starter not a backup
Blackwood is a good goalie with a poor defense in front of him in SJ. He will be even better with a good D. He is a starter, and you don't appear to know what you are talking about.
I do think Ivan Ivan has come out of nowhere and played well enough to make Kovalenko expendable.
They just said Darcy Keumper was a fringe starter in 2022. They dont know what they are talking about clearly. Denver football and basketball media at its finest.
Blackwood is potentially a starter, he was great in NJ for a couple of seasons and then struggled for two, but he dealt with injuries and he was young. He’s posted an above .900 save pct in his career with the sharks who are one of the worst if not the worst team in the NHL defensively. I think he has a lot of potential to be great with the Avs.
