  1. Funny, Vancouver radio is also pointing at him for the Canucks. He’s going to be expensive!

  2. Oilers have been short handed on defense and in net for years. Could use both. Too painful your paying a second pairing defenseman 9 plus million a season as well.

  3. Proverov is a name I really like. Matheson would be great for all of the reasons that Tyler laid out, but if the price for him is a little too steep, or another team gets him, I could definitely see Proverov as a good target

  4. Rasmus Anderson or Matheson would be my choice. I like the Crosby + Peterrson for nuge and nurse proposal as well.

  5. We could free up 9.25 million by just getting rid of one player. Why are they struggling on how to find that one unicorn that can compensate for Nurse….just get rid of Nurse

  6. Totally agree with you that Matheson would be a great fit with the oilers (beautiful skater and puck carrier). As a lukewarm Habs fan, I would be so happy for him. He is so unappreciated by the Montreal media (sickening). The guy logged 25 min+ per (almost every) game last season. Very underrated IMO.

  7. I’m definitely in agreement with a lot of others that they may not have the assets to make this work. Not to mention who do you move out to make the money work? They have guys making decent money but none which have value at the moment. Perhaps Henrique arvidson and skinner get going and you could move on from one of them. Otherwise maybe you’re moving kulak? Even moving kulak we are looking at like near Matias ekholm value so you’d need to move on from two more firsts essentially. Savoie+ next years first and kulak for matheson 50% retained. And if Montreal doesn’t want to retain it’s probably one of those three forwards + kulak and Savoie or a first. Idk seems dicey to me especially for a guy you only get for a season and a half. Perhaps I’m over shooting his value concidering he is perhaps worse then ekholm with a lot less term on his contract but these are just my thoughts. Perhaps they can grab a guy like petterson for a 2nd and one of those forwards to make the money work idk though.

  8. Oilers do not need a D-man they need a real Goalie….3 years of waiting to see how many times Skinner gets pulled…and how badly he can Schlitz the bed. No Goalie = no SC…. simple to see.

  9. Matheson would be great, but I think the Oilers want a right shot shut down guy, not a replacement for Bouchard. Although injured, Artem Zub in Ottawa has great fancy stat numbers, can play in the top pair or 2nd pair, has term, and plays with an edge. Perfect fit if they can entice Ottawa with a package.
