Vasily Pozzolan is a completely different player he was like datsyuk but left hockey the same year. Source TMB
Podz had a very slow start with the Oilers, but in his last 11 games he has 3 goals, 8 points and is a +8. He'll never come remotely close to being Datsyuk, that's for sure. Not sure if he stays on Drai's line after Arvidsson or Kane come back, but Drai loves to play with him, so maybe? He's probably more of a third line guy over a top-6 scorer, but maybe he'll find offensive consistency this season.
I remember watching that draft, and as a Canuck fan, I was really excited because Matt Boldy was still on the board. Then, just as in 2016 when Matthew Tkachuk was still available but they took Olli Juolevi, they take ……who??????……….Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
When people say "[player] is the next [great player]!", I tune them out. Just because a kid is good in juniors or the minors doesn't mean he will be great in the big leagues.
people often forget pods was absolutely destroyed in a hit early last season in the A and that impacted his trajectory quite a bit.
This topic drives me crazy. He is more of a Messier comparison. He is a power forward. Power forwards take longer to develop than other kinds of playera. Like defenceman. He was a monster in the KHL playoffs and went to the finals as a 19 or 20 year old. Many game winners and almost single handedly drove his team to the championship. We will eventually regret trading him for a bag of pucks. Wait till he gains his confidence in the nhl and canuck fans will be crying. Top oiler players want to play with him. I was surprised and upset when we let him go.

For a 4th round Pic until 2026 x 1m. That's half of what you're paying Vinnie Lol! Спасибо
A bit annoyed with how this turned out. Pod was the prospect I least wanted in 2019. I badly wanted us to pick Boldy. He was the no-brainer choice. Relative to where Pod was drafted, I was very willing to give him a shot. He looked ok in terms of progression… but then Boldy exploded and Pod has been stuck in a mediocre mode and that simply isn't good enough for what we should've got. I also preferred Krebs or Newhook and I would've been happier with either of them over Pod. Oh well.
He is doing just fine playing with draisaitl. Most importantly, vancouver is a mess. You can't judge his play in a toxic environment
He'll never live up to his draft hype but he's been fantastic this year in Edmonton.
Maybe Zack Kassian, not Pavel Datsyuk.
I never hurd him called that what a Joke, but he was a bull at rushing the net in Jrs, but a lotta kids can't do that against the big boys.
Long time oilers fan here. Pods game compliments Leon’s so well I won’t be surprised if when they’re all healthy he stays on his wing. He wins puck battles and is solid on the forecheck along with being able to protect pucks and get them to drai in high danger areas. The pod-drai-kap line has absolutely dominated as of late
canucks fans are cute lol
Van dropped the ball with him, as they seem to be doing a lot lately. In Edmonton, he has had a slow start yes. But he is doing every thing right. He and Leon have very good chemistry and like playing together. I think he has probably cemented himself as Leon's winger. And when watching him play you can see he is indirectly responsible for very good plays and chances this season that he didn't get a point on. Like checks that force the opposition to turn over the puck to another Oiler like Leon. He is a very good player and I'm sure will continue to improve. Will he reach Datsyuk's level maybe not, but very few players have.
Nucks get a bucket of pucks for 10th overall: "He's-silly-and-pops-goals-In"
Button, for sure should be the GM in Chicago.
I absolutely love pod as an oilers fan, he quickly become one of my favourite players
There is only one dats. Pods is finding his own journey in his nhl career as a glue guy for skilled players.
