I find it funny after the game, so many of those fans still complain about the 3rd goal Vegas scored on. Skinner made a huge mistake. Other than that, he played well. He outplayed 2 of the 3 Goalies' names for team Canada and one from Team Sweden in Ulmark.That argument you made with that Leafs fan is hilarious. Stolarz is a 30 year old who played backup his whole NHL career and finally got a starting role this season. If he was better than Skinner, he should have been a starter a long time ago. Skinner was only 23 when he became a starter. Was also voted in the top 3 for the Calder. Now he has 83 wins in 143 games in his 3rd full season.
I can't see the chat, but that Leafs fan near the end of the live stream is from the wrong multiverse.
Firstly it's like trying to compare apples to oranges. A career starter versus a career backup. That alone should say all you need to know.
Secondly go take a look and see what the rest of this universe actually feels about Stolarz. Look up Joseph Woll who has only played 48 games total and read his BIO. Then go look up Anthony Stolarz and read his, oh wait, he doesn't even have a BIO. That's how much everyone actually sees him as, nobody worth mentioning.
Now I hope he's able to have a fine career, but at this moment in time you're delusional if you think he's better than Skinner.
As a side note I'd like to say that there aren't very many "Elite" goaltenders in the NHL anymore. Look at Ullmark and Swayman, compare them from last year to this year and you quickly realize it's the team in front of them that makes the most difference. Most goalies are "good" because their team is playing better defensively. Put that same goalie on another team and it's very likely he's unable to steal games like he could on the better team. I don't think Skinner is "Elite" yet, and I certainly don't think Stolarz should be anywhere near that word currently.
All of that said, it's fine to have your own opinion and I salute you for having the courage to share it, truly. I missed a fun chat tonight being too sick to stick through the whole game. Hope to see you all next stream, and I hope you're enjoying the holiday month so far.
