Guys like Bratt forechecking that hard. I feel like this is the kind of game the Islanders want to play, and I feel like the Devils are smaller overall. Good scoring, can beat you on the rush or wearing you down in your own end, and the D and the goaltending can stifle you.
4 points in one game for a stay at home defenseman! You already know as a fellow raised New Yorker i have to give Pesce some NY love! Tough guy who lets his emotions speak through his play which is smooth! He’s been great for Luke and his development and for overall team play and moral overall! Playoff Pesce is what I’ve been hyped about getting and seeing since we signed him, that will be on a whole another level with more goals from him, you heard it here first
Lowkey, Markstrom is slowly getting better and more stingy and dominant as we allow him to get a lion share of the games like we did with Marty and you all know how that worked out for us
Can't remember the last time the Devils played 60 minutes for 2 games in a row – I'm impressed. They habitually just play 1 or 2 good periods every game and sleep for the rest, but not lately. I hope they can make this work ethic the standard, instead of treating it as a bonus.
The more I hear from this coach and see from the team on the ice, the more impressed I am. Today was such an odd game. It felt as if they were forcing themselves to the play a patient, disciplined game, even though Chicago looked flat and vulnerable. Even after being down 1-0, they stayed within that game plan until they tied it. Then around minute 10 it was like they flipped a switch and easily overwhelmed the Blackhawks. I almost wonder if Keefe treated this game as a constructed learning experience, forcing them to to play as long as possible within that patient system, and then turning them loose under pressure to get the win. In any event, this was a great win and a nice way to cap the homestand.

Give Bratter the A this man is a grinder!
Poor Dawson! 🩷
Making Dawson talk with his jaw all messed up is pretty brutal.
I was nervous … glad they got it done.
Biggest cheer of the game was the keep-in by Bratt

Love our coach and team. Been a fan since 1990. So happy to have meaningful hockey again.
