  1. I’m a rather new Habs fan only about 3-4 seasons since I’ve started watching hockey but I love savard. He is such a good role model and help the goalies a ton. That being said, if we can get a first for him I would say pull the trigger.

  2. If Jim Montgomery is still available by the off season (which he won't be), the habs should absolutely try and hire him

  3. Oh, the Lavoie rumour of coach change. He runs his mouth. Pretty certain if something happens with Marty, Vinny might leave. If I recall during preseason, Laine was slotted in the 2nd line. The 1st line needs pressure off of them and if can get a 2nd line to produce nearly as much, it were divide opposing defense. Tanev last deadline netted Calgary a 2nd rounder, 4th rounder, and a former 2nd round pick (Artem Grushnikov) for mainly being the sandbag shot blocker. Tanev signed a 6 year deal with the Leafs (he's 34).

  4. I love the Tabs but I am sick and tired of the bilingual need for a coach. Find the best coach and who cares what language he speaks. Pretty sure one of two of our best coaches didn't speak French, at least at first. Those coaches being Sick Irving Sr and Scotty Bowman.

  5. savard is terrible, slow, doesnt win battles infront. just either ices the puck or give aways. his plus minus is brutal. and on… i love my habs but this guys gotta go. a late first round pick is like hitting the lottery .

  6. I agree with Jesse, trade Matheson and use his 62 point season last year as your main selling point along with his skating. Habs have depth on the left as both Ghule and Hutson have shown they're capable of big minutes, plus Arber and Struble. Next season more than likely they will have both Reinbacher and Mailloux on the right so it would be nice to have Savy help them along…..I also think Barron could be dealt.

Gorton et Hughes pensent à long terme.

  8. More first rounders? For what? They picked reinbacher with the 5th overall 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂ those late first rounders are worthless , the Canadian have too many prospects stuck in the ahl or junior that won’t be evaluated properly due to the congestion🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂

It’s time for big trades now , enough of this bullshit of blow your load at the slight sound of first rounder , what’s that worth? Nothing to write home about the habs draft picks especially for the amount of players they drafted over the passed 5 years

Trade Savard for a 29th overall and use it to draft a 4th liner who might be ready in 4 years , while the team lose a bet like Savard putting even more pressure on the present group of young guys trying to develop on a team who needs right handed defensemen , vet presence and composure 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂

  9. Matheson is having the best days of his career, he has peaked and brutal defensively but he gets points even though always in the -. He’s gonna ask for 8 + millions with the cap going up considerably next season , as soon as he gets on a good streak , I would trade matheson right away

  10. Rebuilding the organization from within is going to take 3-8 years like Geoff M. said. Building for long term success doesn't happen overnight unless 2-3 of the players you draft or trade for turn into true star players. So much needs to change in the organization over the next 4 years in order for montreal to really be an "on ice" success.

    It starts behind the scenes.

  11. Why do we keep thinking trade for Savard or Mathewson? What is wrong with them? They are good defencenen. Unless we’re gonna get someone like a Weber I say keep them. Those two are not the problem for weak stats: The problem is the whole team is not responsible defensively. Marty clearly diagnosed that and is fixing it. The last three games are proof of that Those external sources that bring up stats and are making claims that Montreal needs to do something can keep on believing that. What they don’t see will come back to haunt them. We are sleeping giants right now: stop messing with buying into every trade rumour as though that’s going to fix us. Right now, The team is young. Our veterans are experienced and important for the young incredibly talented players. If we trade either Matheson or Savard, it better be and obvious no-brainer for us And I don’t think a first round pick is enough unless it’s a top 10 pick. Now that would be a highway robbery, of course, but I wouldn’t budge otherwise in this case.

  12. Laine comes back, 2nd line with Cole and Evans, 1st line remains the same. Condotta goes back to Laval, Dvorak gets moved down to the 4C spot and Newhook takes the 3C spot.

3rd line of Anderson Newhook Gallagher.

1st for Savard? And possibly have 3 firsts in the draft to either use or trade? Yes please. However if it were up to me, I would trade Matheson, and resign Savard.

  13. Just a thought from a long-time member here who follows hockey even beyond just our Habs. As Habs fans we're often given credit around the league for being "the most educated fans in hockey". Might be fun if you guys did a segment…or maybe eve n live chat… on things happening in the NHL outside of Montreal. OMG there's SO much to talk about!! And many of the developments around the league this year have major repercussions for how our 'rebuilding" team might be positioned moving into what is hopefully our "contending window".

Could be a lot of fun to share thoughts on the larger situation across the NHL…????

  14. B's and Pens are in deep decline, with little talent coming up through their system. Leafs and Tampa will be there soon. Isles are the epitome of "mid'. Caps are having a great start, but they're on borrowed time too. 1-2-3 years from now the playoff picture in the East will be completely different than it's been over the past 6/7 years. NJ, Buffalo, Ottawa will be sitting pretty. My hope is that our Habs will be there in the mix. But the management group has a lot of work still to do to make that a reality. And a lot of mistakes to acknowledge and move to correct. Dach, Newhook, Barron…YIKES. If we're counting on these guys to be core components of our team 2/3/4 years from now, they've gotta be a whole lot better than they have been.

  15. We trade Savard at the same risk that we traded Kovasevic…losing our solid veteran leadership and mentorship for the younger prospects. Hopefully if we do, we get more in return than the pathetic useless 4th-rd pick we got for Kovy. The guy is top ten in the league in +/-. Right among the Devils leaders in ice time. Huge mistake to have thrown away a 27 yr-old big solid d-man for basically nothing.

  16. I agree with Jesse on the Savard situation. In some ways we "owe" it to Savard to trade him to a Cup contender. That being said it will hurt team performance short term. I hope we do not retain salary as to be realistic if the first round pick we are getting is in the 26 to 32 range we are not assured the pick will even play in the NHL.

  17. I would be sad to see Savard go, such a great defensive role model for the young guys and he seems like a good guy. But I cant deny that he does not fit our timeline nearly as well as a 1st round pick or prospect. We also have some decent defensive prospects who can step up and help fill the gap (Mailloux and Reinbacher comes to mind), so I think we make the move for the right return.

Thank you for your service David o7

  18. Why isn’t anybody talking about how brutal Newhook has been? I’m a little worried about this player, had higher expectations for him.

  19. Trade Matheson

For a Holloway or Dakota Joshua type PWF ( preferably younger )

Hutson makes Matheson redundant and is WAY smarter defensively

Savard / Ghule best defensive defensemen on this team letting go of Savard without bringing back a solid RD is silly and dumb

Move Savard when Reinbacher is ready not before

  20. It will be interesting to learn after the mid Feb-25 break who has been dealing with injury we didn’t know about. I’ve got to believe some of these struggles have been nagging injury related
