On today’s show, Russ and Rachel break down the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings, including Scott Laughton’s four goal game, Aleksei Kolosov in net, Matvei Michkov’s lacrosse goal attempts, and more.

Then we discuss the Jacob Gaucher ELC as well as the player development strategy from John Tortorella as he shared thoughts on Jamie Drysdale, Emil Andrae, and the goaltending trio.

Finally we preview the matchup with the Minnesota Wild. The Wild are in the top few teams in the NHL right now, but the stats don’t entirely match. How are they doing it, and how can the Flyers compete?

  1. Andre is an excellent small defenceman. I was at the Columbus game at Nationwide Tuesday night. Olivier smashed Andre into the boards. Olivier is a bigger powerful forward about 50 pounds heavier than Andre. I was was sitting behind the Flyers net and was very surprised that Andre even got on his knees. Andre is a tough cookie (not willing to show how hurt he was). Then going out to finish the game. I am going with the theory that he sat out because of that hit and feeling it going into last night's game. I watched the game on Television last night against the Red Wings. Both Laughton and Kolosov played outstanding. Of course with the rest of the Team. I believe we have a solid goalie tantrum with Errson and Kolosov. Have a Blessed weekend guys.

  2. Laughton has ALWAYS scored well against Detroit, just one of those unexplainable things. But try to understand the math : 31 opposing teams in the league, Detroit is in another division so they rarely meet. He now has 102 career goals but 13 have come against Detroit. That's well above the average of what should be around 3 maybe 4.
