Matheson was -1 on the night. I didn't see the game but by the boxscore Matheson didn't seem to be the problem.
Primeau needs to be sent down and this needed to be done for a month. There is no worries about him clearing waivers.
MSL is not capable of moving this team forward. He may be great with young players but we need to move forward.
A really stinky game every now and them is not an issue. What is an issue is the team not playing and letting the score run up. Especially when Primeau was put in, the team should have started playing again – not to win the game but to protect a colleague. I am saddened that this was not the response and it worries me more than the score.
Please get a real backup goalie. Primeau should be back in Laval for some play time.
Mtl defense looked like they can't hit anyone. Matheson, Struble..why they are focusing on the puck so much, two hip checks would save two goals. Imo Matheson should be fired. I can't comprehend how he could have had the highest ice time after first two goals. Imagine it would be Slaf. He would be benched. Not a great game for Hutson too, he needs to prove himself defensively, but I would keep him over Matheson. Dvorak can't score, so many opportunities and turnovers missed. Dach is an anchor, he played a bit better only in first line. Slaf has ruined confidence and is invisible after the BS with Hughes. Newhook, my gosh newhook…he is not doing anything, how can he still be in top 6??? Is he related to Hughes or Gorton? Second line with him and dach was the worst thing this year and now they are back, poor Laine. One consistend def guy, Savard is out and it looks like this, gosh.
You had one of the most experienced lines (Crosby's) dominate the least experienced defenses in the league. Why are you surprised? And, well You already know my opinion on Matheson

Kent missed the train on trading Matheson last season, the same way he missed on Anderson

Wow! Josh/Jesse, there is so much to unpack here.
First of all, a young team like this can easily lose its confidence when things go wrong. However, aside from the bad call on Laine, Matheson was responsible for the 1st three goals. On the PP goal, he is essentially just standing around. He doesn’t step out to challenge the shooter and he doesn’t mark anyone in front of the net. Another goal was scored when a forward just skated around him and the other goal, he failed to clear the puck. He is a momentum killer.
I liked Andersons game and although Dach and Slav are young, you have to show some heart, desire and passion for the game. I know now why Chicago moved on from Dach. He can recover if he shows up because he has the size, speed and skill.
I like MSL but he is an inexperienced coach at this level. Having said that, I am not ready to move on just yet as he can grow with the team.
As quickly as things can go wrong, they can turn around just as quick but something has to change. The guys are too comfortable.
We have lots in the pipeline but we need a couple of players that will lay it on the line every night for their team.
I could say more but will stop here and I haven’t even talked about the goaltending yet, man on man coverage and numerous other players.
We are not going to make the playoffs so let’s find little ways to improve.
Thanks Josh/Jesse for showing up after this kind of loss. Can you guys dress for the next game?
No sense of urgency… no accountability. So much for meritocracy.
Hughes and Gorton are just bad as Marc Bergevin. So many bad trade and they have no idea who to draft (Slaf, Mesar, Reinbacher etc) and bad trades like Lehkonnen, Kova, Newhook.
They need to fix GM.

Given the fact that MSL doesn’t know enough not to play Hutson and Matheson together and the fact that none of MSL’s line combinations are working, I suggest that MLS and his staff should be fired and the team should go with 5 on 5 off.

Put Dach or Newhook on the third and reward Evans' hard work with a shot in the top six: if it works his trade value skyrockets or we can keep him.
Once we get first liners we will start being a nhl team, for now we are a AHL team at most

A GAME LASTS 3 DAMN PERIODS,THEY CANT BE TIRED THEY RE ALL KIDS,WTF?WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING,ARE THEY OVER RATED?
I know you want to stay positive and all, but c'mon, after 29 games we as fans are entitled to have some beer trash talk fun. Can't do anything else about Habs ridiculous performances anyway and the team could actually benefit from some fan pressure. No fans = no money = no team.
So in the spirit of positive thinking I think Montréal is doing great this year. MSL is looking very confident on the bench and he has it all figured out for the press conference. All he needs to do now is acknowledge what some Habs fans know already – that everything is Slaf's fault. Plus he can't even speak French. Matheson can, so stop criticising him. MSL should also encourage Matheson and Hutson to come out clean and admit they're secretly centers, not d-men. And let's not pay attention to desperate line mixups that speak to the coaches competence.

And this will continue to happen . BUT will start to happen less as the team grows. What Josh said at 6:53 really makes sense to me. Why have the lines been the same since Laine came back? I understand we have won 3/5 since then, but really? It is clearly not working – switch up the lines or call someone up that actually wants to play!!
