Literally Colorado Avalanche haven't had a goalie since Patrick Roy.
So they just traded for a guy with a 3 GAA this season, which is pretty much the same as Georgiev at 3.33. Sure…..
as of tonight weggie is already proven he can handle 40% of the rest of the games with blackwood rounding out the rest and we have a solid 2 goalie team for once .
we drafted annunen and never played him so he never devolved smh i fear nabokov will suffer the same fate ,cant get exp if u never get played ffs , why draft a goalie if we never give em a chance , so yea we need goalies now , hope they both do amazing and we can sign em both to 2-4 year deals and put the goalie problems to bed for awhile
Cuz he sucked.
Because he was the most inconsistent goalie ever, and was wasting everybody’s time.
I'm curious where you get that the Avs goaltending in the 22 cup run was some of the worst ever? They went 16-4, with Fracouz going 6-0 and Kuemper going 10-4, and only gave up more than 3 goals in 5 of those games. Yes, the Avs seem to want average goaltending because it doesn't look like they're interested in paying for an "elite" goalie when they have guys like Mac, Makar, and Rants to pay for.
Georgiev had an attitude problem and people were sick of it.
why did they dump him, to answer your qustion simply i guess the management had become georgie haters just like me and pretty much half of the avs fanbase 😀 no but seriously, i guess they got tired of borderline ahl/beer league performances and mostly inconsistency, from a supposed starter goalie. don´tget me wrong he had good moments and games where he stood on his head, but statistically for 1 good game 3,4 extremely bad ones followed.
I’ll never understand the lack of respect for Darcy Kuemper.
Taking Blackwood out of the equation completely, simply getting rid of Georgiev was an improvement to the roster. They could have traded him for a Kit Kat bar and the team would be better off.
