  1. This should have been talked about after Goodrow got screwed Trouba got what he wanted in the end. He went from NYC to LA, Either way he wanted to be in a big medical and art scene city. Medical for his wife art world for him.

  2. Everything was completely fair game here, Trouba was horrendous for this team and had this coming years in advance. Drury only took drastic measures because Trouba unironically has cost this team 2 Finals appearances with his disastrous play and has not lived up to being even an average player.

  3. If a team is so compelled to give a No trade clause, what gives them a right to break that contract via waivers ?
And dont say well he gets paid anyway, thats no excuse…….
If a team gives a NO TRADE
NO MOVEMENT CLAUSE, the only way out should be a FULL BUYOUT
    Forcing the Cap Hit.
Thats how yiu put an end to this clause
BTW, the NHL is the only sport who does this stupid crap

  4. Better yet ban all trade and movement protection to make the game interesting again. Even better let teams cancel contracts making the player a free agent.

  5. Player Greed and entitlement now fully mirrors owners Greed and entitlement of previous eras. Neither is good for the game or it's fans.

  6. Too bad players…in the past you went where they traded you…get a grip! It’s a signal of a broader weakness where people are complaining but didn’t study how bad it use to be…suck it up.

  7. Don’t feel sorry for the players at Troubas salary he makes about 100 grand a game. Let’s get real here folks wtf

  8. the cap, though necessary, punishes the fans and players more than the owners. I don't have a solution, but it sounds like the next CBA needs a drastic rework.

    btw makeup on fleek Elliot.

  9. gM's are dumbass's for giving out these contracts in the first place.. but Trouba carried on to get out of Winnipeg.. his time in NY was done… the 8 mil price tag not worth it …perhaps recognize it is time to move on … he put himself ahead of the team …the team in response played hardball back … sorry I do not feel sorry for a guy making 8 mil a year ….geez

  10. Don’t care either way, he’s still making 8 million, I think most fans would be happy making that anywhere. If the owners are dumb enough to keep paying it and agreeing to the terms the players will keep taking it. Most if not all teams are stuck with a NTC or a no move they wish they never agreed to.

  11. Time to remove all trade protections. I have no issues with what the Rangers did just like Trouba had no issues with publicly forcing himself out of Wpg afew years back..Karma is great..

  12. There shouldnt be a no trade nor move clause . Its part of the game , if your not playing good enough , a team shoukd be able to trade you away without the players permission

  13. If the owners will agree to such a demand (probably not), it will seal the league's big moves to continue to be "no show" even more the future.

Neither party did anything wrong here but used their own negotiating capital in the best way. NY has more negotiating value as the organization is known to be as I see it, straight to the point of doing what they set out to do as a party.

Trouba has a contract that states he gets paid. Should we really feel sorry for him here, he got an offer from his employer and he made his own bed.

I have done similar things with a previous employer. I received an offer which I countered with a better offer which my employer accepted in our separation. When you fight for your cause (an employment), you make an active choice. Trouba states that family was his reason for his choice, it is an agreement between two other parties not NY organization. From Trouba's own list, he chose a team that is far away from his family. As a grown man, Trouba should understand that his Ken was not bigger than NY's…

  14. Not only does the terrible N.T./N.M. clauses the owners signed off on, muck up the whole system, it also breeds entitled, baggage laden diva's, like Trouba, who want it all. Maybe a better solution for owners is to offer incentives to players for not starting families while under contract worth millions of dollars…

  15. The blame should go to Drury here. The minute Trouba was gone he handed out the next absolutely horrible contract. GMs need to stop handing out theses clauses, this is the only way that the play on the ice matters after signing a contract.

  16. ā€œwas he blackmailedā€ give me a break šŸ˜‚ why is this suddenly an issue? was he the first guy to ever get traded?

  17. I dont think the players should have that much control. They are employees and they demand these high salaries. The team should be able to move them at any time and to any other organization in the NHL to receive maximum compensation for the player.

  18. This league is turning soft…making millions of dollars a year. Ridiculous

  19. When the players are greedy, and the management is greedy, the only party who loses are the fans.

  20. Zero sympathy for Trouba. The way he whined and kicked and screamed his way out of Winnipeg will never be forgotten. This couldn't happen to a bigger jerk.

  21. It's not a loophole lol. It's a legal move. Trouba was not even playing close to 8 million. WAAYYY TOO much protection with these players, that's why when they get paid they play worse. It's a problem with being too safe from accountability.

  22. Re tkachuk…

Staios said clearly for 2 years, he's building the team around Brady. He's not going anywhere unless he wants out. Any article speculating trades for him should be treated as TMZ garbage and the writer flogged for ineptitude

  23. Millionaires complaining about where they PLAY their jobs. We should all feel sorry for them…………

  24. That defeats the whole purpose of waivers…. so essentially with this idea only the good teams can claim the "good" players? What is the point of being high of the waiver wire if you are a weaker team that is being blocked by these "no move" clauses.

  25. The only reason the leafs didn't do this with marner in the summer is because of the market. Everyone was saying to free up the salary space, but they didn't, and if I had to guess, it was less because of how underhanded it is, and more because of the backlash they might have received. Protected themselves…not the team.

  26. Players want control even if they underperform. Sounds like a pro sports union. The team has to absorb their failures.
