I now believe that Ian Cole's overall contributions to the team defense last year were significant and largely overlooked.
I think Myers will find his game again. Brannstrom is a stud. Also Juulsen can be developed, he’s been trending in the right direction lately. Vinny D and Soucy both suck though.
Hard to watch them play! Always fall behind, never can capitalize on chances, give up 3-4 goals every game, then last period they come to play and somehow tie it in some games and get a point. Any team can come to our barn and win
Refs were awful for both sides
Maybe Brannstrom had to nurse a minor injury. There is no other reason to scratch him over that bottom 4 they iced last night.
Even Hughes – Myers is a sad excuse for a top pair, even though Hughes can carry the whole team at times.
May have been a loss, but still impressive for Demko to get the team to OT, for his first game in 8 months that's a win all in itself. I'll admit, I'm pissed we traded off Zadorov to the Bruins, we could REALLY use him right now. Team looks good, but some of the plays just ain't it.
Soucy has been just awful
Demko played good for a team who looks like chickens cut there head off!
what type of overtime line is Blueger Soucy and Boeser like Blueger and Boeser is an odd forward pair and Soucy!?! they should have Put hughes Petterson and Garland
Brutal defense. Demko bailed their asses so many times.
You know who does know who Robert Thomas is? Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Look who they passed over in order to pick Thomas at last years All Star player draft. Guys like Aho, Clayton Keller, Brady Tkachuck, Barzal, Sam Reinhart, Boeser, Filip Forsberg, Nick Suzuki, JT Miller, etc.
Defence needs serious help. Hughes has to carry the entire back end and if has a not spectacular night we are cooked.
the d has gone from 1st to worst with 1 player leaving and 2 somehow losing their game. not holding out much hope for a repeat of last year. petie is getting points but he's not the bure-type exciting player he has been. i'm no longer expecting anything when his line comes on the ice. has tocchet got him to change his game?

Garland and Hughes weren't actually very good. Hughes struggled big time getting the puck past his defender and Garland made 2-3 pretty poor decisions.
I think those two guys have been our most consistent players this year, so they definitely get a free pass. However, the defensive gaps from the rest of the D core was horrific.
The NHL officials won this game. Nice to see Canucks at least get a point when penalty calls are still an absolute joke
There's gotta be a big move on defense soon. This defensive corp is awful. Hughes needs support. He can't be playing upwards of 30 minutes every game.

I think at this point Marcus pettersson (as well as maybe some smaller moves) is our only option. We need better defenders

Yeah, this year is really strange. The team just doesn't seem to be dialed in much of the time (except for a few players). Like, look at the team's overall puck-handling skills. It honestly looks terrible, and doesn't even appear to be at the NHL level. And they are so. Damn. Slow sometimes. It's not just the D core for me., though I am feeling the loss of Cole and Zadorov. And it just makes it painful to watch especially the starts.

Agreed, that was brutal for Demko. You could see he wasn’t 100% comfortable in net, natural for being out 8 months but to be thrown into that was reckless on Tocchet’s part.

Tyler Myers should be buying dinners for Soucey, Juuleson and Desharnais for elevating him out of the "Worst Canuck's Defenseman" spot.
Soucey has singlehandedly lost the last two games. The too many men v. Lightning, and the no effort shadowing of the OT winning goal.
Yet, "another disappointing home game" indeed! So frustrating! How they couldn't rise to the occasion and secure a win for Demko, is beyond me.
Rather surprisingly, Myers, of all people, has been the second-best D-Man.
The Canucks are playing like crap. Time for a major trade and get some D men who can play.
