The Boston Bruins lose 8-1 to the Winnipeg Jets in their most embarrassing loss of the year.
Jeremy Swayman didn’t play well at all, but he was not to be outdone by the team in front of him, which also looked terrible.
David Pastrnak gets a powerplay goal, and Trent Frederic gets in a fight, but those are the only bright spots in a 60-minute game.

The Pasta "high sticking" wasn't Pasta. The dude smacked himself in the face with his own stick. Otherwise, agree with you.
What you see is what you get, there should be a fire sale come the trade deadline. This team is the result's of bad trades, draft picks and poor upper management decisions. I am not expecting anything fantastic to happen for the rest of the year. We all should have expected this from the start of the season.
Great analysis, totally agree. I am so disappointed in Swayman for not being the guy for us. Same with McAvoy and of course, Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov.
I am pretty worried about how many of these guys just got massive long term contracts. It is starting to look like all three of those contracts are capital "B" BUSTS.
Let's hope we see a return to form of some kind very soon
To be honest, after the start of the season I'm pretty happy with the Bruins. 7-3 right now first game of a road trip and you get spanked… this will get them focused for a west coast swing. Still a new coach and struggling for an identity, and I don't mean Bruins hockey I mean as a group that is united. I expect a couple more of these types of screw ups but how they rebound is more important. Clearly goals where you jump out of your zone before you control the puck is a sign of confusion… if this gets better then no problem… if not then it's time to panic. And Swayman is solid, he seems to be getting stronger as the season goes on… once the team defence starts controlling the defensive zone you will see less problems. They just need to stay in the playoff race and a battle down the stretch will tell if this team has what it takes!

This team is horrible. It pains me to say so. The top 50% of salary earners aren’t even good enough to play in the top two lines. Complete waist of an enormous amount of money. Not to mention what SweeNeely are getting paid.

4 games this season where Swayman has let up 6 goals plus. I am very concerned. Remember Blaine Lacher? Took NHL shooters a season or 2 to pinpoint his weakness and I fear the same is true with Swayman. The shooters are targeting his blocker with great success & at 8.25 million a year this could have far reaching issues for the Bs future.
BOS is slow and take too many undisciplined stick penalties. The top 2 players in the league for penalty minutes are Zadorov and Kastelic. It could be offset if they had high-end skill with their forwards to bail them out. But they don’t have the firepower.
E. Lindholm is projected to score 36 pts this season and currently ranks 150th in the league in points and 142nd in assists.
I fear Lindholm’s past success was because he could be a 3C behind JT Millers 103 points (last year) and Pettersson’s 89 points, facing weaker bottom 6 foes – or if he played winger, be with high-end skill akin somewhat to when he had that monster year sandwiched between Tkachuk and Gadreau (RIP) , although admittedly not comparable. Hopefully he can find his game and gain some confidence.

questionable penalties confusion on what icing is and other things that happenec last night would not have really changed the outcome of the game.Swayman has not earned his contract yet. The Bruins are too predictable in almost everything they do, power play exiting the defensive zone ,lazy passes. poor anticipation and recognition of plays and players on the ice. 3 minutes of solid hockey per period will never win a game. they won thier fights is the only positive out of that performance

Swayman is garbage
I thought they came out in the first with good energy and created good chances. The Jets just looked bigger than the Bruins. Swayman is a disappointment. I don’t see any kind desperation out of him to stop the puck. You can easily find Tim Thomas and Rask highlight videos and see these guys doing everything to make a save. He has his money. Signing goalies to long term deals is a bad idea.

I’m not placing all the blame on Swaymen. But during his negotiations I felt he was still an untested starter and doesn’t deserve the money he was rumored to be asking. And he’s showing he’s not worth the contact he got. Not yet anyway. That aside the group chemistry for this team is just off. Whatever the reasons. It’s just not there. They are not a team playing together.
I feel like the team is not constructed in a great fashion if I'm honest. It's tough to really decide what this team is. Every fan would want us to remain as buyers leading up to the trade deadline. But at what cost. I don't think we draft well. I look at other teams who in an extended Stanley Cup winning roster, may have 15 players out of say 28 or 29 who they drafted, then maybe 8 acquired in trades, and 5 or 6 signed as free agents. I feel we are a fringe playoff team at this point. If we are sellers, you probably have to be brutal with it at this point. Maybe you consider moving Coyle, Marchand, Elias Lindholm and Hampus Lindholm. But would teams take those contracts? That's the question. We could try and get some picks back, but you still need to have enough of a roster to play. I'm still surprised Lysell hasn't had a consistent look. But it's up to the player and coaching staff being on the same page.
